"My Little Lost Leo"

May 21, 2001

Last night as I was cleaning/feeding/etc., my leo Switch did the thing she always does when she knows I'm there and wants out. (It's the cutest thing in the world to see her do this.) She went over to the side of her aquarium and started scratching on the glass. (As soon as I get a good camera I will post a pic of this.) I put in my hand and she climbed up. I sat her on the bed so she could play around like I usually do. I went to get the crickets, and started putting them in the tank. Then.. all of a sudden, I heard a rip sound. I looked over and didn't see Switch any where. I went over the bed and looked over the side just in time to see her walk under the bed. The bed is surrounded by a wall on two sides. So I had to move everything out from under it. (That's alot) Once I got everything out from under it, I got under the bed just in time to see her run under my drawers. My drawers weigh ALOT. Did I mention this all started at 12:30 last night? When I finally got the drawers moved she ran out the front. Right over to under the desk. I of course had to move the desk and Apoc, my other leo's aquarium is on the desk. He was sleeping on top of his hidebox and when I moved the desk he promptly fell off his hide box. At this time he looked really freaked and one of the crickets I put in jumped on his tail. He bolted and ran straight into the aquarium with a thud. As I was watching this I let Switch get away. I was so freaked out and felt soooooo bad. I keep my door closed, and snuck down and turned up the heat so it wouldn't get to cold for her. Turned off my fan and closed my window. I was so sad. I looked around until about 2:15 and then couldn't take it any longer and went to sleep. I woke up the next morning because I felt something kinda scratching me. Of course I didn't take it into account but I have an electric blanket. Switch was crawling up my leg. I'm lucky I didn't send her flying. I caught her and put her back in the aquarium then went to sleep until three. Don't you just love summer??

"Homeward Bound"

May 22, 2001

On May 15 I had gone to bed and one of my geckos was in a temporary container for just that night and the container was long and tall.

Come morning on May 16 I woke to discover that my gecko was missing and I couldn't find her and I had to go to work. When I got home from work I started the search again and looked for her everywhere, but my intuition told me that she was no longer in my room. There are three other rooms around mine before you get to the dinning room.

I have been searching for her everyday for a week know and I haven't seen hide nor hair of her anywhere, not even a poo anywhere.

I don't have to get up and get ready for work until 8 a.m., and I always sleep with my door shut. Well this morning (May 22) I woke up at 7 a.m. and decided since I was awake to get up and use the bathroom, still half asleep.

I got out of bed and opened my bedroom door and there was my missing gecko laying infront of my door almost touching it. Well I did one of those double takes and quietly said holy cow and got a big smile on my face and picked her up. She was cold and I got her back in her home and within seconds she was fine and lapping up water.

Now you tell me how she did that and knew which room was mine. Two of use sleep with our doors closed, then there is the spare bedroom and the bathroom and I found her outside of my door looking at it.

I'am still in auhhhh/shock.

"The Lizard disappearing act"

June 1, 2001

About a month ago, I was putting crickets in the tank where my little side-blotch lizards live. One cricket stuck to my hand, so I reached in the tank to kind of brush him off on the glass. One of the lizards jumped onto my hand, ran up my arm, then jumped onto the floor. He then ran over to one of the tortoise pens and disappeared underneath one of my leopards. I picked up the tortoise, but did not see him. I searched for hours, that soon turned into days. After a while I had given up, and didn't even think about him any more. Well today one of the torts bent the track to the sliding glass door. While I was down on my hands and knees fixing it, I happened to look outside. There was my little lizard sunning himself on a planter in the yard! Sure that he would run, I sneaked over to him, and to my surprise he just sat there and let me pick him up. So he's safe and back in his home, after roaming around inside and outside for just over a month.
