Tremayne Quay
Tremayne Quay (tre-main key) was a spot on a river, where we often used to go. There was a lovely walk to it through the woods, and you could swim from the quay (a spot to moor your boat) in the summer on warm days. I swam there once and remember it being very cold with a slimy, muddy floor. But the walk was always pretty, and the dog never seemed to mind the water.
I remember there were two routes to take when walking, one along a footpath and one along the road, both through the woods. We always used to follow the footpath with our mother, because our parents said it was a shortcut. Our father would take the road route in order to do some running, and would always arrive at the quay before us. Finally, after several years of visiting this place, our parents confessed that Dad had been taking the shorter route all along, and they had been fooling us into getting more exercise. My parents have odd views on childcare.
No picture, but someday I'll go back to Tremayne Quay and take some.
