Jessie Bannon sat on the edge of the cliffs staring into the beautiful
starry night. It was past midnight, but she couldn’t sleep. She had
come out
here to draw some tranquillity from the serene atmosphere. She didn’t
know
how long she had been sitting there, her thoughts wandering from one
topic
to another.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned slightly to see
Jonny
Quest approaching.
“Hey,” he said, tentatively.
“Hey, yourself.” She replied absently.
He came to the cliff’s edge and sat down beside her.
“What are you doing here at this ungodly hour?” he asked.
“I don’t know…just counting the stars I guess.” She replied in a soft
voice.
“I didn’t know you were into counting stars.” He commented.
“Mmm-hmm.” She replied.
She was very aware of the arm that had crept around her waist, and
she felt
herself being pulled closer to him.
This could get dangerous, she told herself.
“Hey, Jonny,” she said, trying to distract him. “Aren’t the stars
beautiful?”
“They’re breathtaking.” He responded in a husky voice.
“You’re not even looking at the stars!” she accused, laughing nervously.
“Yes, I am.” He replied, staring into her eyes.
Then he leaned toward her and gave her a long, tender kiss. She was
in
shock. After a few delicious moments, he broke the kiss and looked
at her.
Her face wore a stunned look.
“You deserved it,” he said, smiling.
With that, she grabbed his face and kissed him passionately, and forcefully.
They stayed that way, for a while, exchanging kiss after kiss, as if
there
was no tomorrow. Then she let go of his face and placed her head on
his
shoulder. Hadji found them that way at dawn, watching sunrise.
The End.
