IN THE ARMS OF THE ANGEL…..

BY FATIMA ALI RAZA.

Disclaimer thingie:

I have a confession you guys. I know you’ll hate me for this. I don’t own the Quest Team. Yes, ::sob:: it is true. I wish more than anything that I did ::sniff:: but I don’t. And that government agency for whom Race Bannon worked, remember? ::Sob:: They’re not paying me for this fab tale. So do not sue me. Sue them. Oh, and the song isn’t mine either. In other words, I don’t own anything in this piece of literature, except the words.

This is an HR fic. Some sadness, not exactly angst, though. I was just listening to Sarah Mclachlan’s Angel, and I thought this classic song must not go to waste.

Archivers: Yeah, whatever, just tell me.

IN THE ARMS OF AN ANGEL.

The stars were shining brightly in the dark blue night sky. Jonny Quest stared up at them. The teardrops in his eyes sparkled just like those stars.

Mom, I miss you. I miss you so much.

The tears finally fell onto his cheeks. Why did God have to take his mother? He needed her. Every time he looked into the mirror, he saw Rachel Quest staring back at him.

Jonny bent his head low, and let the tears fall freely. The light breeze blew his soft blond hair.

Mom, I love you.

He stared up at the sky again. He could feel his mother smiling down at him. She was his angel. She had told him that in a dream years ago, and he had always believed it.

If only I could see you, Mom. If only I could see my angel. If only I could feel my angel.

Jonny felt a presence next to him, he turned, and looked into Jessie’s soft, soothing eyes. Her long red hair actually shimmered in the moonlight. Her lovely white face glowed with compassion and understanding. Her brilliant blue-green eyes were brimming with tears. Even in his grief, he was struck by her unusual beauty.

"Jonny," she whispered softly.

"Jessie," he said simply laying his head on her small shoulder. She put one arm around his shoulders, holding him to her, and brought the other one to caress his face.

They did not need to say anything at all. Both of them stared out into the night. The light breezed caressed Jessie, making her shiver. Jonny slipped an arm around her waist, and held her tightly, his head still on her shoulder. Her body was so soft, so warm, so …comforting. She smelled like roses. The love they had never known, the love that was unspoken between them, filled the night.

"Jess, I miss her so much." He whispered.

"I know," Jessie said softly. "But she’s your angel now. Your guardian angel. She loves you Jonny, I know she does. She’s up there watching you now."

I wished for an angel I could see, one that I could feel. You’ve sent her, Mom. Thanks.

"Jess…."

"Um-hmm?"

"I love you, very, very much."

She kissed his forehead in reply. Their grip on each other tightened.

"Jessie?"

"Yeah?"

"Promise me you’ll never leave me."

"I promise, Jonny. I promise."

As they leaned on each other, and silently watched the dark sky, both feeling very soothed and comforted, the sounds of a haunting melody reached their ears.

"In the arms of an angel, may you find some comfort…."

The end.
