Jonny sat across from Jessie in the Starlight Room, not believing how lucky
he was. She was the most amazing person he had ever laid eyes on. She was
the only one who had lessened the pain of his mother’s death. She was the
most beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, logical, brave and loving
individual he had ever known. She was here. And she was all his. But they
would soon be thousands of miles away.
Why me? He silently wondered. Why do I always lose the people I love?
It was an irony of fate that Jonny and Jessie had both applied to only one
university together. And they had received no reply from that very
university.
I’d do anything for him, thought Jessie. I’ll even leave Cornell for him…
But there was no choice. There was no school that had accepted them both.
There was nothing else to do but to enjoy the time they had left together.

Hadji Singh was cleaning out his drawers. They were a complete mess. There
were candy wrappers and used post-its, and God-knows-what-all in his
drawers. Then he saw the two, large, identical envelopes. From Princeton.
One with Jessie’s name, the other with Jonny’s.
Hadji groaned and slapped himself on the forehead. These letters had come in
six weeks ago, and he had forgotten to give them to Jonny and Jessie.

Jessie felt a wave of sadness wash over her, as the dinner finally came to
an end. It hadn’t been their best date ever---Jonny seemed distracted, and
Jessie herself felt close to tears every time she looked at him---but it had
been good. As Jonny paid the bill, her mind wandered off to their first
date.
The morning after Jonny and Jessie had discovered their feelings for each
other, Jonny was, to put it mildly, horny. As they sat down in a booth in a
small coffee shop for breakfast, Jonny squeezed into the booth farther,
pushing Jessie into the wall.
“Jonny---“
“There’s no one here to bother us or distract us, Jess.” He said, his eyes
gleaming.
Then he lowered his head to kiss her. Jessie found herself awaiting the feel
of his warm, soft lips upon hers. He was so close. She could feel his breath
on her cheek. Jessie closed her eyes, and leaned against the wall, as his
lips lowered to hers…
“Excuse me would you like to order now?”
Jonny practically jumped back and Jessie quickly straightened herself.
“Yes, we would like orange juice, and omelettes.” Said Jonny, his cheeks
flaming from embarrassment.
“Coming up.”
Then he leaned towards her again, as she waited for his kiss. His mouth was
only a centimetre away. Their lips were only a touch away…
“Would you like toast with that?”
They jumped back again.
“Yes, of course.”

After several useless attempts at making conversation, Jonny grabbed
Jessie’s hand and kissed it. Then he moved his mouth over her small wrist,
gently caressing her forearm with his lips. As his mouth stroked her creamy
skin, she felt Goosebumps running up her spine. Her body had a magical
response to his touch.
He kissed her shoulder now, and she let out a gasp aching with genuine
desire. His mouth over her velvety skin aroused feelings deep inside of her
that had never yet been stirred. She felt like a woman, not a girl. A woman
who needed love, and could give plenty of it in return.
Finally, her reached her mouth. The kiss they shared was so intensely
passionate, it scared her to know that she could feel this way. If, right
then and there, Jonny had wanted to make love to her, she would have let
him.
Their kisses grew deeper and more urgent, and Jessie raised her hand to
caress his face.
“You orders are here. Pay now, please.”
They ignored the waitress and snuck even closer to each other.

The recollection made her smile.
“Jessie?” asked Jonny, drawing her out of her thoughts.
“Yeah?”
“Ready to go?”
“Yeah.”
“So what do you want to do now?”
“Let’s drive up to Hill Point and watch the stars.”
“Okay.”

It was a beautiful night; the breeze blew softly, musically, like a young
lover’s serenade. The sky was shot through with stars, and how beautifully
the stars twinkled! Like the misty shimmer in the eyes of two lovers waiting
to meet. Or the tears in the eyes of two lovers, soon to be torn apart.
Jonny pushed the roof off the convertible and the two turned to each other.
Jonny moved closer to her and placed a gentle kiss on her neck. Their hands
and lips began to rove, and they explored each other’s bodies. Then,
suddenly, Jessie broke off.
“Let’s get home, before this gets out of hand.” She whispered.
“Alright, Jess.”

They were silent the way home.

As Jonny and Jessie got out of the car the front door opened and Hadji
rushed out.
“I bring good tidings, my friends!”
“What?!” Jonny and Jessie asked together.
“You both have been accepted at Princeton!”

The entire Quest family sat at breakfast the next morning, and they couldn’t
stop smiling.
“So,” asked Race, “You’ve both decided to go to Princeton, huh?”
“Yeah,” replied Jessie, with an ear-to-ear smile. “We’re deferring a
semester, and both going to Princeton.” She gave Jonny a look that made him
feel kissed.
“That way we can be together,” he said, smiling back at her.
And he squeezed her hand under the table.

The End.
