Close to the cave of the Kailan, though far enough away not to be overheard, the two stop. Sandry glances around, noting they are in a glade. She sees that moss grows on every side of the trees, not only the norhern. The sunlight barely filters through the thick canopy. A stream babbles quietly in the dark shadows of the wood. Sandry jumps for a moment as a portal flickers into view for but a moment before disappearing. As she does so, she sees something strange among the roots of a tree. There, about the mossy feet of the ancient sylvan giant, lies a dew-dappled egg hued in a pair of muted blues.
"Is this her?" Snadrylene asks, her voice about to crack from a strange feeling of melancholy. She can not place the feeling's origin for a moment. Suddenly, she knows it. "Where are her parents?" She glances about, half expecting to see them nearby.
*Her parents are unknown. She was found here by me, and I felt she should go to the one who is true to himself as well as others. One who values everyone's contributions. One who places strangers on a plane above himself. This is why I held the Hunt. Each Seal possesses a virtue, and only those tuned to such virtues could find the seals easilly. Anyone could have found them with time, but I did not allow for time.*
"Am I such a person?"
*The closest I have found, child. Even though your friends aided you with the Quest, your trio demonstrated the values quite readily. You valued each other's input on your journey and will most probably continue to do so.*
"I almost undersand what you're trying to say, but the others surely showed such traits as well."
*Most of the others traveled alone, competed alone, or desired the egg too much.*
"Not much better than competing out of boredom."
*True, but your comrades' relationships with you caught my interest. Did you compete and not wish to win?*
"Well..."
*Ambition is not a sin, child.*
Sandry sighs and crouches by the egg. "Will she be a mutant or a hybrid?" she wonders aloud.
*A mutant. As you and your companions do, she also will sport colors far different than her peers.*
Sandry smiles and gets to her feet. She hugs the Kailan about the neck and kisses him on the cheek lightly. "Thank you," she states and crouches by the egg again.
*What troubles you now?*
"I know not what to name her." Sandry chuckles.
*The best of names usually come under unfortunate circumstances, I fear.*
"How do you know?"
*I have been the Kailan for a long time, and usually wyrms are named for a close family friend who has suffered. Strange, but fate usually works in such a way. Value your friends, Sandrylene. You never know when you may lose them.*
Sandry nods and picks up the egg. It is cold for the dew. She clutches it to her chest and follows the Kailan as he returns to his cave. They proceed in silence.
