Kaotic Kave: Richard Fidler

When he toured with the Allstars, Fidler took on the role of being the 'stupid' one of the group, when in fact, in reality he is a smart man who- according to ex Doug member, Tim Ferguson- is able to play the stock market as if it was marbles. While Paul wrote the songs and did the backdrops for the group, Richard was the guitarist. His good knowledge of guitar tunes and methods was shown every time the D.A.A.S delved into a song. Whether it be a cover or an original that the boys had played, Richard was always able to make it sound good and in some cases if it was a cover, it ended up being better than the original.
After the Allstars split up, Richard delved in to some shows of his own such as the show made for thecomedychannel called Mouthing Off which saw Richard talking to numerous guests about a specific topic of the day. Mouthing off was a show in which most of the language and content was 'no holds barred'. Race Around The World was a show made for the ABC. In the late 90's he wrote a column for the magazine Internet.au and he was the script writer for the REAL WILD CD-ROM, which was an interactive program that looked at the history of Australian Rock Music.
Once leaving his spot on the JJJ breakfast show known as Dick Predicts, Richard went on to host Cosmopolitan Live on 2DAY FM with co-host Libby Gore (Elle McFeast). On 2DAY FM Cosmopolitan Live was a live talk show dealing with the ins and outs of everyday Australian's love lives. Richard occasionally picked up his guitar to strum a few chords and sing with Libby some quite 'interesting' songs including a parody of We're Going On A Bear Hunt.
He's last show was a 13 part series called After Shock was on Thursdays on the ABC at 8.30pm. The show revolved around the world of science and technology which would be in Richard's domain due to his interests in computing and multimedia. Richard Fidler is happily married to Khym Lam who played the news presenter for Shitsu Tonka on the Doug Anthony Allstars TV sitcom DAAS KAPITAL. She is actively involved in multimedia as well and apart from designing the Race Around The World Webpage, has appeared in a couple of television ads. The couple have a son and live in Sydney, NSW.
