New Parts of the Game's Engine
For a moment, lets assume that the suggested story line is true, its what they're going to use for the game. Zelda being the young, restless, and not-kidnapped princess isn't just going to let Link go off and have all the fun, she's coming to! This is another place were I feel that the Cube's controller can really benifit the game. This time though, your companion doesn't ride on your head, she walks a few paces behind you. This brings up another problem however, how are you going to use 2 characters to fight one enemy w/o a traditional RPG styled stytem? You get a new Adventure Engine. Here is how what I would do:

Confusing, I know (and also please forgive me, the picture is of an earlier model of the GC controller). Let me explain though:

L Button Used to switch control over to Link
R Button Used to switch control over to Zelda
X and Y Buttons Items can be assigned to these buttons via the Item Select Subscreen
A Button Launches Primary Attack. For Link, a slash of his sword; for Zelda, a jab from her lance.
B Button Magic spells can be assigned to this button via the Magic Select Subscreen
C Analog Stick Used to aim in the First-Person Mode
Analog Stick Used to control character
Z Button Used to lock onto ememies via 'Z Targeting'

A Note on Subscreens
These will closely resemble the ones from Z64, except this time I'd have about 8, total. The first 5:
The Last 3: These are for Zelda's things (assuming the first 3 were for Link's).

On to Battle System...
