Morgan and Eve are walking down one alley way. They crouch behind a corner and see an amphibian hybrid going through the garbage.

Gawain(voice) - We require an antidote. Before a human soul can be harvested the subject must be transformed back to human. We've found that any demon physiology left taints the purity of the damnation.

Danielle - So tell me about Jeff. Is it serious?

Morgan - I don't know. I guess. I mean I like him but . . . it's just casual right now though. I had a bad relationship not so long ago that I attempted to run away from and it put a lot of people in danger. It's always been that way with my relationships though, when ever I take a chance I get hurt.

From "The Muse"

James - I think it's time for me to re evaluate whether I need to be here, whether I want to be here. Your place is here Eve. It always has been but I don't think I have a place here anymore. I think I need to go away for awhile. I'm going to visit my Mum in Jersey. I need to get away from this, I just need some time.

Open with a pan from a bird's eye view over New York. Fade to a bird's eye view pan over the NYU Campus. Fade to pan past a few of the buildings to Eve and Natalie waiting on a set of steps.

Natalie - Hear from James lately?

Eve - No

Natalie - Is Morgan still avoiding Jeff?

Eve - Yeah.

Natalie - And how's he doing?

Eve - Why are you asking questions to which you already know the answer?

Natalie - Well excuse me for trying to make conversation. I don't always read people's minds you know!

Eve - Well, small talk is not working for you

Natalie - Fine. (sees Craig in the distance) There's Craig. He's . . . He's talking to Dr. Newman. (looks to Eve, knowing what she's thinking) Seriously? He looks like Caligula?

Eve - It doesn't matter what he looks like. That man is creating hybrids. He's using decent human beings and turning them into monsters while damning their souls. Craig is keeping an eye on him. I just hope he's careful. Newman is very dangerous.

Cut to Newman and Craig talking.

Newman - So I was like, 'What?!' and they were like, 'No way!' and it was like, totally kickin, you know? I mean, you know what I mean, right, it's like you know, you know?

Craig - (clearly confused) Uh . . . yeah, those frat boys are really something. The point is I'm not going to pass them just so they have more time to party.

Newman - What about extra credit? I have some assignments they can do.

Craig - (suspecting something) Getting extra credit to pass my class means they have to have an assignment related to my field of study.

Newman - Whatever! I'll find out what the Dean thinks.

Craig - You might want to change your clothes if that's your plan

Pan outward to see Newman decked out in a full out toga.

Newman - What? He's not into Toga?

Cut to across Campus. Two women watch Newman and Craig speak.

Woman - Are you sure that's who you need to speak to?

Allison - I'm positive.

Woman- You shouldn't be doing this.

Allison - This is different. That man plays a part in a much bigger plan. A lot depends on putting them on the right path to stop the evil that's spreading.

Woman - That's not for us to decide.

Allison - Even when our very existence is at stake?

Woman - (sighs and relents)Just remember to keep your interactions to a minimum. Persuade the right people but don't get any more involved then that. You know the rules.

Allison - I know. Involvement and attachment is forbidden for our kind. We are only meant to observe and watch over. Such is the role of The Guardian

Cut to Craig's apartment the next day. Craig, Jeff and Eve are sitting around his kitchen table.

Craig - The man's a psychopath. He acts like a frat boy but the university won't let him go. Despite his eccentricities, the man is supposed to be beyond brilliant and "we're lucky to have him."

Jeff - Oh yeah, brilliant enough that he can turn any human into a demon and get away with it because there's no proof to convict him of anything.

Eve - We haven't encountered any new hybrids for weeks! That means he hasn't been making more right?

Craig - Well, that could mean three things. One, he's too busy playing frat boy. Two, he knows we're on to him and is laying low. Or three, he is running out of people to turn!

Jeff - I'd bet my money on three

Craig - Agreed and we have to be careful within the next few weeks. He tried to get me to pass a few of the kids that were failing in my class with extra credit assignments, helping him with his experiments.

Eve - How can we stop him?

Craig - I'm going to try to talk to the Dean about the extra credit assignments. That will take care of the frat boys but we'll have to keep our eye out and with that being said, I have to get to class.

Eve - Be careful.

Craig Eve and Jeff get up. Jeff and Eve walk out the door and down that hall.

Jeff - We uh . . . should let Morgan know what's going on.

Eve - I'll take care of it.

Jeff - It's okay. I can . . .

Eve - Jeff.

Jeff - She keeps avoiding me. I just want to talk, let her know I care. I do care . . . I think . . . I think . . .

Eve - (softens) I know. Jeff, she's not ready. And after everything that's happened . . . (sighs and shakes her head) I'll talk to her for you and if it's any consolation I know she cares about you too. (smiles)

Fade to later that day in a lecture classroom. Craig is at the front of the class.

Craig - One current meaning of the word "sphinx" is "an enigmatic or mysterious person." Egyptian and Arabic sphinxes were usually represented as guardians that embodied wisdom, strength, and nobility.(looks at his watch.) Right times up. See you guys next class.

The students pile out of the classroom. Craig follows out behind them and walks down the hall to a set of office doors, marked "Dean Patrick Maloney." Dr. Newman is there and is surprisingly dressed in a suit.

Newman - (coolly) Professor Summers.

Craig - Dr. Newman! I didn't recognize you without your customary toga.

Newman scoffs as he walks into the Dean's Office. Craig follows behind smirking. As they enter they see three "frat" boys sitting in front of the desk with Dean Maloney behind it. Off to the side the blue eyed woman known as Allison is leaning against the window sill. She catches Craig's attention.

Dean - Dr. Newman, Professor Summers, right on time.

Newman - Wait, you get to be here for this too?

Craig - Of course. After all, they are my students trying to get extra credit to pass my class. They're not even in any of your classes

Dean - And as such you should not be talking to other professors about passing students on their behalf.

Newman - But they're good kids. I offered credit to become my lab assistants so they could pass their classes.

Dean - It's not needed. Professor Summers has already taken care of it.

The boys deflate and their shoulders automatically slump at the idea.

Craig - I have some make up assignments ready or if they wish they can join the archaeological society.

Newman - (slightly panicked) But I need assistants! . . . I could just walk out of these doors and not come back!

Dean - (quickly makes amends) Oh yes! We know and we understand your needs. With your work load and enlightening research we are more then willing to be accommodating. That's why we hired a full time assistant for you. (gestures to Allison) This is Allison Reynolds.

Newman - I said assistants. As in plural, more then one.

Dean - Allison is more than capable. She is very accomplished and she can do the work two assistants can do. She's very dedicated.

Newman - And I'm very demanding. If she can't do the work, she goes.

Dean - (breathes a sigh of relief) Then it's settled.

Everyone gets up and leaves the office, save the Dean. Allison follows Newman out. He turns around swiftly after clearing the office and looks her dead in the eye.

Newman - Let's get one thing straight. Do what I say when I say it and we should get along just fine.

Newman gives her one distasteful glance up and down and then walks off with his nose stuck in the air.

Allison rolls her eyes as he walks off. She stands there for a moment and as if sensing something turns around. Craig stands there looking at her but he quickly looks away at being caught. Allison smiles and walks off.

Cut to a little later in the school meal hall. Craig pays for his coffee and at turning around he nearly bumps into Allison

Craig - Whoa!

Allison - Hi!

Craig - (stunned) Yeah

Allison smiles shyly and looks away

Craig - (recovers) Uh . . Miss Reynolds?

Allison - Oh you can call me Allison

Craig - Allison. I'm . . .

Allison - Craig Summers.

Craig - (surprised)I'm flattered you know

Allison - Don't be. We met in the Dean's office remember.

Craig - Okay, I'm a little less flattered.

Allison - You teach Classics right? I'm a bit of a history buff myself.

Craig - And assisting in science?

Allison - I've always had a fascination with time, the mechanics of it. Science and history seem to go hand in hand don't you think.

Craig - Sure, if you're interested in time travel.

Allison - (smiles) Maybe.

Craig - Sorry!?

Allison - Sure. I mean why not? Isn't there anything in your life you'd like to go back and change, if you had the opportunity?

Craig - (turns sad for a moment)Yeah but I wouldn't. Everything happens for a reason and the slightest change could alter the present in ways we can't imagine. Who are we to decide the fate of all?

Allison - You've been here before.

Craig - Excuse me?

Allison - You've been reincarnated, experienced life before. That would explain such wise words coming from someone so young. I know it from anywhere. . . you've been here before.

Craig - (leans in close) And have we . . . have we met before (realizing what he just said) And I'm kind of wishing that hadn't sounded like a cheesy pick up line. . . Are you sure we haven't met before I feel like I know you.

Allison - (laughs) I've only seen you around

Craig - Can I take you out sometime?

Allison - (hesitant) Um . . .

Craig - I'm sorry that was inappropriate . . .

Allison - No, no, it's not like that, I'm not a student, just a co-worker, it's just . . .

Craig - How about a coffee, just a conversation between two people?

Allison - (relents) Sure, why not.

Craig - Great. I have a couple of things to take care of but I'll meet you back here this evening.

Allison - Sounds good. (smiles as she walks off)

Craig watches her go still standing there amongst all the passing people. He smiles even though his coffee has long since gone cold.

Cut to the Centre later on. Craig walks into the centre whistling. Eve sees this and smiles

Eve - Well, you're in a good mood today.

Craig - (shrugs) I'm doing alright.

Eve - Did you stop Dr. Newman?

Craig - For now but not for long. The university has already hired a new assistant for him. He's getting desperate and that makes him dangerous especially to his new assistant.

Eve - Fair enough.

Craig - Hey, how are you guys for patrol?

Eve - Just the basics tonight. Jeff, Morgan and I should be able to handle it. Why?

Craig - I have a date.

Eve - (surprised) A date?

Craig - Well, it's just coffee but if you guys are short handed. . .

Eve - No, no. You're so concerned with patrol all the time . . . go out and have some fun.

Craig - Thanks. I'll keep my cell phone on just in case though. Call if you need anything.

Eve - Who are you having coffee with, if I may ask?

Craig - (on his way out) Dr. Newman's new assistant

Craig walks out whistling leaving Eve concerned.

Cut to that evening. Craig and Allison are in the coffee shop just getting out of the line up after getting coffee. They move over to a table.

Craig - So where you from?

Allison - All over really. I've been in Europe, Africa, Canada . . .

Craig - Oh yeah? I know a girl who's Canadian.

Allison - Girlfriend?

Craig - (burst out laughing) Not even close

Allison - You don't have a girlfriend?

Craig - Well I did . . . sort of. It was complicated.

Allison - One of the things in your life you'd like to change but wouldn't?

Craig - (shakes his head) What about you, you're so interested in time travel. What would you change if you could?

Allison - (shrugs) There are a few things. I have seen so much and I just stood by and let it happen. If I didn't live by the rules I do, I wouldn't have just stood by and let fate take over.

Craig - (understanding in his eyes) I've felt that way too. Sometimes I think, if I just had have listened or seen things coming sooner, I could have prevented the outcome. It could have been different but I changed . . . she changed. I couldn't stop things from changing.

Allison - (reaches for his hand across the table and gives it a slight squeeze) None of us can. The world stops for no one but that doesn't mean you have to let it whisk you away, there are people to hold on to, things that matter that can keep you grounded.

Craig - (squeezes her hand back) You know, you kind of remind me of her.

Allison - I hope that's a compliment

Craig - Depends on who you ask.

Allison and Craig laugh

Cut to Eve in that park. She jumps up on a swing and swings around kicking two demons in the chest. She then runs up a slide and jumps off on to a demon tackling it down. She brings out a sword upon getting up and chops off its head. She blocks the attack from the two previous demons and slices them both across the stomach before swinging around and slicing both heads off in one swing. Another demon runs toward Eve and she runs up a tree and flips backward over the demon kicking him head first into the tree. She then quickly uses her sword to slice the demon's head off. She then takes out the other sword letting the demon body slump to the ground and then swings both swords around going after more demons.

Pan over to Jeff and Morgan sitting on top of a picnic table their eyes following Eve as she goes by. Morgan passes a bag of popcorn over to Jeff who takes a handful and hands it back. He looks to Morgan

Jeff - Did Eve fill you in?

Morgan - On "Freaky Caligula Looking Newman?" Yep!

Jeff - Did she mention anything else?

Morgan - You suck at being subtle.

They watch Eve go by again.

Jeff - Morgan . . .

Morgan - I'm not the best person to be having a relationship with right now.

Jeff - We don't have to have a relationship. I'm here. That's all, whatever you need, I'm here.

Morgan - (looks to Jeff and smiles a little) Thanks (looks around) Where did Eve go?

Cut to Eve at the edge of the park. She chops off the head of a demon then drags it into a bush. She looks around to see if anyone saw, but the coast is clear. She is about to go back when the looks across the street at the coffee shop. She sees Craig and Allison in the window. She stands there for a moment and as if just deciding something, she stashes her sword, straightens her self out and smooths her hair down. She walks across the street and into the shop.

Cut to inside. Eve walks into the coffee shop and goes right to the counter and orders. Craig sees this and looks startled. He excuses himself from Allison and walks right up to Eve.

Craig - Eve, what are you doing here? Is something wrong?

Eve - (turns around quickly) Craig, Hi! I didn't know you were here.

Craig - What are you doing here?

Eve - Getting some coffee

Server - Black decaf.

Eve - (turns around and pays) Thanks

Craig - Black decaf. What's the point?

Allison - Maybe she likes the taste.

Eve turns around and faces Allison. Eve is startled and taken aback by Allison. She recovers when Allison sticks out her hand

Allison - Hi, I'm Allison.

Eve - (hesitantly shakes her hand) Eve.

Allison - (looks to Craig) Is this the girl?

Craig - Oh no she's just a friend.

Eve - More like we work together.

Craig looks to Eve surprised. Allison senses something amiss.

Allison - Right. (looks to her watch) It's getting late I should get back. School night you know

Cut to outside the coffee shop as Allison, Eve and Craig walk out.

Craig - Will you be okay? Can I walk you to your place?

Allison - (smiles) I'll be fine, I just live down the street but thank you for the offer.

Eve - Been in New York long?

Allison - Born and raised but I just travel a lot.

Craig - Are we still on for lunch tomorrow?

Allison - Absolutely! See you tomorrow

Craig waves bye as Allison turns to walk down the street. Once she turns the corner Craig turns to Eve.

Craig - Right. What was that about? You're not even drinking the coffee in your hand right now. Were you checking up on me?

Eve - (offended)No. I just sort of happened upon the place. I went in because I wanted to see your date. She seems nice.

Craig - Not that I need your approval but thanks

Eve - Just be careful with her okay

Craig - (smiles a bit) Are you jealous?

Eve - (offended) Of course not! I just got a vibe off her that's all

Craig - A vibe?

Eve - I'm telling you I sensed something and it threw me off. You said she was Newman's assistant, what if she's Newman's partner or worse his benefactor?

Craig - You're grasping at straws.

Eve - I am not jealous! . . . . I'm . . . . . I'm

Craig rolls his eyes as he bypasses Eve but Eve turns around and shouts out at him

Eve - I'm afraid of being alone.

Craig - (turns around to face Eve confused) Alone? Eve, I'm not going to abandon you or this mission. This is my life.

Eve - What about Allison? What if you love her enough to leave this behind?

Craig - (shakes his head realizing the direction of the conversation) It was just coffee Eve and lunch tomorrow. I'm going to ask her to spy on Newman for us. Even she thinks there's something wrong with him. (sees Eve's unsure look) You don't need to worry, not about Allison. Good night Eve.

Craig he walks off, leaving Eve standing there still unnerved by the encounter.

Cut to Allison walking along the dark street. She is smiling her to herself as she thinks about Craig. Her smiles fades as she slows down. She stops suddenly, sensing something.

Allison - What are you doing here?

Pan to Allison's right to see the Woman who she was with before, standing behind her.

Woman - What are you doing with him?

Allison - (turning around) Having coffee. It's not illegal you know.

Woman - Involvement is. While you're here making attachments Newman's getting closer to accomplishing what you came here to stop. He's just made dozens more of the potion and had acquired test subjects for tomorrow. And you are no closer to letting the right people know.

Allison - You're wrong. He knows her!

Woman - Who?

Allison - Craig. He knows the Messenger.

Woman - Be careful Allison. You are letting your feelings cloud your judgment. It's not you he longs for.

The Woman walks away leaving Allison contemplating her words.

COMMERCIAL

Cut to the next day in Newman's lab early in the morning. We pan past several beakers and test tubes over to where Allison is working on dozens of little vials. She is mixing and extracting bits and pieces of each vial. She then moves on to another set of vials and adds a set of different liquids. She checks and double checks through microscopes. When she is satisfied she puts all the vials away.

Allison - That should about do it.

As she finishes putting all the vials away Newman comes in startling her.

Newman - What are you doing here?

Allison - Dr. Newman! . . . I was just (holds up a set) making and testing those antidotes you wanted done. They're all set.

Newman - You made 4 dozen? With the exact counter dosage?

Allison - Number for number . . .(looks at him confused) Are you wearing a toga?

Newman - What's it to you?( looks at one of the vials and gives it a little shake then nods satisfied. He turn and gives her a distasteful look) Good. Get out of here.

Allison doesn't hesitate and leaves the lab quickly. The lab door closes behind her and she let's out a sigh.

Allison - That was too close

Fade to a few hours later at lunch in the centre. Craig is waiting at the juice bar. Jeff and Morgan are hanging around with Craig as Natalie helps Eve with the Centre's members.

Morgan - I still can't believe you're going out with someone who is totally not in our circle.

Craig - (Looks at Morgan disbelievingly) This isn't high school. Remember Morgan, not so long ago you weren't part of our "circle"

Morgan is about to bite back an answer when Allison comes in. Craig smiles relieved and walks up to her giving her a hug which she accepts with a smile.

Craig - I was beginning to think you hadn't got my message to meet me here.

Allison - I almost didn't. Why aren't you at the university?

Craig - I don't have classes to teach until the afternoon.

Allison - Lucky you. I spent all morning preparing mixtures for Dr. Newman.

Craig - Yeah about that. We should really talk about the good Doctor.

Allison - (sees Eve) Hey Eve!

Craig - Oh Allison Reynolds, these are a few of my friends. You know Eve but (gestures to Jeff and Morgan)This is Jeff Morrison and Morgan Clemont. And . . . (looking around and sees Natalie behind him) This is Jeff's sister, Natalie.

Allison turns to Natalie and the two stare each other down for a moment both unnerved by each other's presence. This does not go unnoticed by Eve. Finally Allison sticks out her hand and Natalie does the same to shake.

Allison - Nice to meet you.

Natalie - Yeah. Likewise

Craig - (senses the tension and tries to break it) We should go.

Allison - Yeah. Nice meeting you (gives Natalie one last look before heading out with Craig)

Natalie - (after Allison and Craig have cleared) Whoa

Eve - Did you sense something from her?

Natalie - I didn't sense anything at all.

Morgan - Then why did you look like you were trying burn holes into her head?

Natalie - That's what I'm saying. I tried. I tried to get something but before I could she put a mental block up.

Eve - A what?

Jeff - It's a protection mechanism for psychics or telepaths from unwanted mind entry.

Natalie - I was taught how to put up a block since I was very young to avoid mind rape. Very few people without those types of gifts know how to do it.

Eve - Are you saying Allison is a psychic?

Natalie - Psychic, telepath, empathic. I don't know, it was a really dense block but I don't think she would have put one up that strong unless she had something to hide.

Jeff - What, like evil?

Natalie - Maybe. . . .(shakes her head) I don't know.

Eve - I hate to jump to conclusions but after what happened with James I think we should be cautious. Allison may not be who she says she is and she definitely knows something she doesn't want us to know.

Morgan - So who is she and how do we find out?

Jeff - (brings out a lap top) There might be away to find out. As a private investigator I can get access to city records. Is she from around here?

Eve - She travels but she said she was born here and lived here.

Jeff - Then there has to be something on her. Picture, birth records, finger prints, anything. (starts typing) We'll just type in Allison Reynolds to start with and see what comes up. (presses the enter button) Whoa!

Eve - What?

Jeff - There are hundreds of records.

Eve - Is there anyway to narrow it down?

Jeff - We don't know much about her. We can try an approximate birth date but if you are really sure about this, we got to look through all of them.

Eve -(nods) Look through them all.

Fade from Eve to Allison eating lunch with Craig in a restaurant close to the campus. They are both silent as they eat. Craig keeps looking up at Allison.

Craig - So um . . . do you know Natalie from somewhere.

Allison - Hmmm? Oh! No I don't

Craig - The way you were looking at each other I thought you two had a former rivalry or something.

Allison - I thought she looked like someone I knew. I probably freaked her out from they way I was staring.

Craig - Oh. Hey listen . . . I wanted to talk to you about Dr. Newman.

Allison - Not your typical dinner conversation but that's okay, I wanted to talk to you about him too.

Craig - Really?

Allison - Yeah. He's not exactly the most . . . trustworthy man. Some of the mixtures he gets me to test are not normal. It has to do with DNA manipulation, he talks about "curing" birth defects but some of the DNA he's working with is not human.

Craig - What else can you tell me?

Allison - Not much. Except that Dr. Newman is . . . well he's a lot older then he looks and he definitely does not act his age.

Craig - I was wondering if you would be able to do something for me concerning Dr. Newman . . (Craig all of the sudden stops talking because he sees Dr Newman walk in and walk right up to them.)

Newman - You've stopped talking. Are you sure you weren't talking about me? My ears are burning!

Craig - (rolls his eyes) Someone should burn your toga

Allison - (looks at Newman strangely) Did you get younger?

Newman - Oh I hope so! Thank you for being so observant. Actually you're just the girl I wanted to see. I wanted to let you know that you have the afternoon off.

Allison - But I thought you wanted to do extra testing on the . . .

Newman - (cuts her off) I do! But I'm going to do it alone. So take the afternoon off and enjoy! It's probably the only one you are going to get.

Newman sticks his nose in the air and walks out. Allison gets a very grave looks on her face.

Allison - Oh no . . (under her breath) He'll find out and I won't be able to prevent further manipulation. (gathers her stuff quickly and gets up) I have to go!

Craig - (grabs her wrist) Hey, you don't have to worry about him!

Allison - No, Craig you don't understand . . .

Craig - You don't have to be scared of him Allison. I'm serious. I . . . I'll take care of you!

Allison - (slowly wiggles her hand free and gives his hand a slight squeeze) You're a good guy Craig, but things are going to get really bad really soon. You need to be ready.

Allison walks out of the restaurant, leaving a very confused Craig with the bill.

Cut to Eve's apartment. Jeff and Morgan are there going through every "Allison Reynolds" in the database

Jeff - (as he is clicking away) No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

Eve - (walks in) How's it going?

Jeff - She is no where in the database

Morgan - We're going to have to start thinking of another way to find out who she is if this doesn't pan out. You know, she probably has everything to do with Dr. Newman and those hybrids and Craig is falling for her good girl act.

Eve - You sound worse than I do.

Jeff - Hold it! I got something.

Morgan and Eve go over to the lap top and look at a file.

Jeff - There's no picture but the date of birth is correct if we match the age and . . . . Oh wait. Nope she died at 13 years of age.

Eve - Keep checking.

Jeff - Can't. That was the last record that matches the data we have. You know, it's very possible that Allison Reynolds is fake name and this is a stolen identity.

Eve - Craig should be warned.

Jeff - He has class now.

Eve - (on her way out)I'll wait for him outside.

Cut to Dr. Newman in his lab. He takes out a few vials and smiles. We walks over to a few frat boys who are standing there nervously.

Newman - Don't worry boys. All you have to do is drink one of these. . . (sees they are hesitant) I'm just checking for side effects. Nothing major, just like a rash or something. It's just like taking a Jell-O shooter. Oh come on! It's grape!

The frat boys shrug their shoulders and each take a vial and take a swig. Dr. Newman waits for a few moments smiling but his smile fades as he sees that nothing is happening.

Newman - What's going on? The change should be almost instantaneous! (gets panicky and get more vials and pushes them on to the boys) Here! Quick drink another! DO IT!!

The boys drink and Newman waits anxiously as nothing happens!

Newman - WHAT'S GOING ON ?!!( the boys look nervous and are about to leave) DON'T MOVE!! UNLESS YOU WANT ME TO GET YOU FAILED IN EVERY SUBJECT!!

Newman quickly brings out a microscope and starts checking. He goes through a couple vials.

Newman - No! NO! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!! . . . .(realizes something) Her! SHE CHANGED THEM! SHE CHANGED THEM ALL!!AHHHHHH!!

Newman goes ballistic and he stars smashing vials on the ground. As the boys prepare to boot it out of there Newman grabs one by the collar and shoves him up against the wall.

Newman - DO EXACTLY AS I SAY AND YOU JUST MIGHT LIVE OUT THE NIGHT!!

Cut to Eve standing outside a lecture classroom. Just then the door opens and all the students file out and spread into the hall. Craig comes out of the classroom with a stack of papers under his arm.

Eve - Craig!

Craig - Eve! What are you doing here?!

Eve - I needed to talk to you. I just got some disturbing information.

Craig - You're telling me. I just got a peak at these term papers. Yikes!

Eve - Where's Allison?

Craig - (shrugs)I don't know. She ran off half way through lunch.

Eve - She isn't who she says she is.

Craig scowls and starts walking down the hall and Eve follows.

Eve - Craig listen to me. We sort of did . . . a . . .background search on her. She can't be found. Even Natalie couldn't sense anything off her!

Craig - That means nothing!

Eve - Then ask her and find out. Ask if you can come to her place. Ask her anything about her life. She'll deny you

Craig shakes his head and goes into the administration office and goes to the clerk.

Craig - Excuse me. I need some information on Dr. Newman's assistant Allison Reynolds.

Clerk - (types in a few things on the computer then shakes his head) There's no Allison Reynolds here.

Craig - That's impossible. The Dean hired her himself.

Clerk - She's not in here. Maybe the Dean just hasn't filed her papers yet. It has been busy.

Craig comes out of Administrations confused. Eve overheard the whole thing.

Eve - She's not in Jeff's database, she's not registered as the university and Natalie can't sense anything from her. Don't you think that's a little strange?

Craig - She's not as evil as you would like her to be.

Eve - Craig! Argh! This is not about me wanting a reason to dislike just because I'm jealous or scared. It's just . . . She's hiding something and whatever it is could cost us if we are not careful.

Craig - I'll find out the truth from her.

Craig walks away from Eve leaving her sighing and looking frustrated.

Cut to later that evening. Eve is walking along the street and turns to go into the building of Morgan's loft. She opens the door and sees a hybrid bounding toward her. Suddenly it is stunned with a tazer gun and it falls to the ground unconscious at her feet. Standing there is Morgan with the tazer gun. She throws it to the ground and grabs the hybrid by the feet and drags it back to the cage and locks it up.

Morgan - You think that's bad. The most docile one I decided to show compassion to took advantage and ran me over when I opened the cage.

Eve - (walks over and pats one of the hybrids that respond to her touch.) They are getting better though. Much better. Getting in touch with their humanity is working. Having the antidote is better but Craig is having trouble getting the right ingredients at the moment so we have to use other means, like love and patience.

Morgan - Speaking of which, did you talk to him?

Eve - I sounded jealous and scared which made it hard for him to believe me. Probably because I am jealous and scared.

Morgan - Of what?

Eve - Maybe not Allison but someone could come along one day and offer him a normal and peaceful life. He would take it and leave us, leave me. And I wouldn't blame him. This isn't exactly an easy life

Morgan - (scoffs) I don't see that happening, not the way he is with this mission. You heard him, he started all this, he's not going to just leave

Eve - I know you feel there's nothing really keeping you here right now. So, why don't you go to Britain, see if your father will let you see your sisters.

Morgan - (shrugs) Maybe sometime but not yet.

Eve - Do you ever think this life has taken more from you than you'd like. Don't you just ever want to stop?

Morgan - Eve you gave me back my life, reasons to live and love. You're wrong to think I have nothing keeping me here. Here in this life I've got reasons to fight for something better. I've got confidence and a purpose and I've got people who have been more of a family then I've had in ages. I'm not going to leave that. And I definitely don't see why Craig would.

Eve - What about the fighting?

Morgan - Are you kidding me? It's the best part of this job!

Eve laughs.

Morgan - Now get on that phone and tell Craig you'll kick his ass if he's not careful.

Eve laughs and pulls out her cell phone. She dials the number and waits while it rings. Confusion crosses her face when there is no answer. She hangs up.

Eve - No answer. That's strange. He always leaves his cell phone on. He went to go look for Allison though. He doesn't know where she lives so the only logical place for him to look would be the University.

Morgan - Then we'll start there.

Eve and Morgan head out.

Cut to the University, inside one of the buildings. It's late in the evening now and the hallways are dark. Allison rounds a corner and looks around. She seems to be sneaking about. She's about to head into Dr. Newman's lab.

Craig - Allison!

Allison - (startled she jumps back from the door) Craig! What are you doing here?

Craig - (grabs her by the shoulders) Me? What about you? I've been looking for you everywhere. You ran out so fast after lunch and I haven't seen you since. I've been worried.

Allison - Craig, I have to get in there. I have to . . .

Allison stops because there is a sound of Newman's voice in the distance.

Allison -(scared) Newman! He's coming this way!

Craig grabs Allison and drags her back with him around a corner and into a nook. Pinned against Allison, Craig kisses her. Pan to the left as we see Newman round the corner at the other end of the hall, hybrids behind him as he goes into his lab. Pan back to Craig and Allison who are still kissing passionately. When they hear the door close they break the kiss.

Allison - Why did you do that?

Craig - Why are you sneaking around the halls after hours? Why are you so afraid of Dr. Newman?

Allison - He's crazy! He's combining human and demon DNA. The demon DNA changes their brainwaves. They are still as advanced as humans intellectually and logically but all concepts of right and wrong are erased and their strength is enhanced. I have to stop him. I've changed all vials and made more antidotes but once he finds out I've been sabotaging his work he'll come after me.

Craig - How do you know about demons?

Allison - That's not important.

Craig - But you are important Allison. I care about what happens to you. You're putting yourself in danger.

Allison - You don't even know me. (shakes her head) I can help you take him down but you've got to let me go in there.

Allison hears the door open and peaks around the corner and sees Newman walk out with a hybrid behind him.

Allison -(still whispering) Oh no! He's made more hybrids but he's leaving. I can get in there and get the antidotes.

After Newman leaves Allison makes the move to go in but Craig holds her back.

Craig - No, I can't let you go in there. It's too dangerous

Allison gives him a kiss on the lips. When she pulls away she looks at him with sadness and truth

Allison - You love another (sighs) I would have broken all the rules for you but we were never meant to be.

Allison turns to go in but he holds her back.

Allison - (tears in her eyes but sighs and blinks them away trying to be strong) Don't trust Newman. His weakness is in his vanity. Tap in to that and you can stop him.

Craig - (suspecting something) How do you know all this? Who are you? I'm not letting you go until you tell me what the Hell is going on!

Allison - I have to do this now, I won't get another chance. I'm sorry

Allison puts her hand on a spot between Craig's neck and shoulder and pinches. He falls down unconscious. Allison looks down in pity and then runs into the lab.

COMMERCIAL

Cut to Allison inside the lab. She is working quickly looking frantic, pouring all the vials filled with the virus down the drain and setting fire to the research and notes. She then grabs several vials of the antidote and sticks them in her purse. Before she leaves she puts out the fire in the garbage can and destroys the demon DNA. She backs out checking everything over making sure she got it all when she backs into Dr Newman. Allison gasps and screams as she whirls around to face him. There is a hybrid behind him.

Dr. Newman - Well well well. Aren't you just a busy little bee. You were able to take all the demon DNA out of the virus without me even knowing it. But what you don't know is I can get demon DNA anywhere at anytime. But don't feel like you've failed. Tricking me, even for the short time that you did, is a very hard thing to do. You deserve a reward, an eternal reward.

The Hybrid bares his teeth at these words and slowly begins to advance on Allison.

Cut to outside the lab. Eve and Morgan round the corner and look around.

Morgan - I'm surprised the doors were unlocked.

Eve - Which can only mean there are people in here.

Morgan looks around and sees a hand laying out from behind another corner

Morgan - Eve look!

Eve looks to where Morgan is pointing. They round the corner and see an unconscious Craig on the ground.

Eve - Oh Craig!! (she elevates his head slightly and he groans waking up) Craig what happened? Who did this?

Craig - (putting his hand to between his neck and shoulder) Owe! . . . . Allison

Eve - She did this?

Craig - No . . . .well yeah but . . . she's gone in the lab, she's going to do something to Newman's research on making Hybrids . . . she wants to help us but she'll be in danger if she faces him alone . . . got to . . . got to . . .(slumps a little and Eve catches him)

Eve - Craig! Craig . . . .

Craig - I'm okay . . . I'm okay just . . . wow . . . dizzy . . .

Cut to back inside the lab. Allison backs away from the demon as he advances on her. She quickly pulls out a vial from her purse and throws it at him. The vial smashes against his chest and the antidote begins to smoke burning away his demon skin. The Hybrid screams and sinks to his knees.

Allison tries to makes a break for it by going out the window but her exit is blocked by three other hybrids that walk out of Newman's office. Suddenly she kicks the demon in the middle in the gut then hits the other two with her purse, distracting them for a minute.

Allison quickly turns to run out of the lab Newman tries to block her way but Allison jumps over the fallen hybrid and punches Newman in the face knocking him out of her way. Allison runs out of the lab.

Newman - (holding his nose) My face! That bitch broke my face! After her!!

The hybrids run out after her.

Cut to outside the lab. Eve, Morgan and Craig see Allison burst out of the lab and run down the other end of the hall, the hybrids and Newman in quick pursuit.

Eve - Oh no!

Craig - Go after her! (Eve and Morgan hesitate) Go after her! I'll be fine!!

Eve and Morgan get up and quickly run after them.

Cut to outside the university running across campus is Allison. As she runs the hybrids jump up high, over and in front of Allison blocking her path at every turn. Suddenly the Hybrids block her at all angles. The three have got her trapped. Suddenly out of nowhere Morgan flies through the air and tackles one hybrid down. Next Eve comes flying through the air, bicycle kicking the other hybrid. The third hybrid grabs Allison from behind. She struggles as he takes her into the shadows.

Cut back to Eve as she ducks a swing from the hybrid. She punches him down. She then lifts her leg up high and drop kicks down on the demon chest, winding him.

Cut to Morgan who punches her hybrid in the face twice. She then grabs its head and brings it down to knee him in the face, she then uppercuts him knocking him off its feet.

Cut to Allison who struggles against the demon.

Allison - DON'T KILL THEM!!! THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANY DAMNING ACTS YET! YOU CAN CHANGE THEM BACK!

Allison then elbows the hybrid in the soul flex, stomps on the instep. He howls in pain letting her go. She whirls around and digs in her purse bringing out three vials.

Cut back to Eve who has the legs kicked out from under her. Allison throws a vial to Eve who quickly smashes it against the demon. It begins smoking and the demon skin is melted away. Eve gets up and watches the skin melt away leaving an unconscious frat boy in his underwear.

Cut to Morgan as Allison throws a vial to her. The hybrid runs to attack Morgan. Morgan turns around and smashes it against its head. The skin and demon features melt away like wax under fire revealing the anguished features of an in pain frat boy making for a quite unappealing picture.

Morgan - Gross.

Cut back to Allison who throws the last vial against the last hybrid. Just like the rest the demon features melt away as the hybrid screams in pain. The pain exhausts the frat boy and he falls down unconscious. Newman happens upon the scene seeing his work ruined.

Newman - NOOOOOO!!! YOU BITCH!!

Newman runs to attack Allison. He wings his fists around trying to hit her. Allison ducks and dodges the punches and then quickly pinches the spot between Newman's neck and shoulder rendering him unconscious. Eve and Morgan walks over to Allison kneeling beside Newman's fallen body.

Eve - What did you do?

Allison - Pressure points. He'll wake soon. (touches Newman's temples with her hand them his forehead, then she sweeps her hand over his eyes) He shouldn't remember this night or me. (gets up and looks around) You should take the boys to the hospital. There's another one in the lab. They'll remember nothing (begins to walk away)

Eve - Wait! You're just leaving?

Allison - I shouldn't have been here in the first place. I just . . . I had to do something. Newman is part of a much larger plan that could shift the balance to evil forever.

Eve - How do you know about that?

Allison - I know a lot of things, including Newman and how he's helping to build an ultimate army of hybrids. This in part with other plans will change the world and life as we know it. It's already begun

Eve - Can it be stopped?

Allison - That's why I came. I came to let someone like you know. I wasn't meant to get involved but I had to but now I can tell you what I know. I've already told Craig. Go to him and he will tell you what you need to discover the truth. This will help you in your mission. (turns to leave)

Eve - (grabs her by the forearm and gently turns her back) Hold on! Who are you? The only Allison Reynolds you could be died at 13

Allison - That sounds about right.

Eve - What?

Allison - I was terminally ill. I wasn't supposed to live but my predecessor felt differently. She was old and I had so much promise so why not more time. Thus I was risen from my death bed and infused with all the memories of the past, the experience of all those before me and knowledge of the future.

Eve - You didn't answer my question?

Allison - Names mean nothing anymore. What I am is what is important. The Egyptians referred to us as Sphinxes. The Celtics thought we were part of the Mabinogion. In short, we are Guardians.

Morgan - Guardians? Of what?

Allison - We are not like The Messenger. Eve is a true Guardian. She guards life and protects the people within its flow. We are more like . . . keepers of the secrets of life and the universe. As for myself, I am a Guardian of Time and like my sisters I keep the mysteries of its inner workings a secret.

Eve - I've never heard of anything like this before in my life.

Allison - Most haven't. We're supposed to be abstracts. We have seen all that was, is, and what will be.

Eve - But you could do so much. You could make this world better. You could change things to your will!

Allison - (scandalized) Knowledge of that magnitude gives unimaginable power! It can corrupt and in the wrong hands that kind of power can destroy the world! The only reason why I came here, broke so many rules is because if the powers shift to evil, the secrets we have tried so hard to keep will be let loose.

Eve - And Craig? What does he have to do with all of this?

Allison - (softens) I can look into someone's eyes and see their past present and every possible future. One look in his eyes and I saw it all. The sadness and tragedy and yet an unwavering resolve to do good. In his near future I see a moment where he doubts it all, even you, and it costs him his life. It broke my heart. I just wanted to be there for him, to give some hope and love but I began to feel for him but I could never give him what he truly wants. . . She must be something special.

Eve - Who?

Allison - The woman he loves.

Eve - (knows it is not herself but has a feeling of who it might be) Yeah, she's . . . she is pretty special.

Eve smiles at this when The Woman emerges from the shadows.

Woman - Allison. It's time to go.

Allison sighs sadly at this and looks at Eve before standing and resigning herself to her fate.

Eve - Wait! What will happen to her?

Woman - She has broken our rules. She will be restored to her previous form.

Eve looks to Allison confused.

Allison - I will die.

Eve - (panicked) You can't do that! What she did, she did to help us. To help these people and protect them. To help protect you and your secrets!

Allison - I can't just leave them like this. Can't you see? They are the ones that can save this world. They need to be warned. Let me do that at least.

Behind The Woman wispy figures appear in the shadows. They are all colours of the rainbow and seem to emit light but they are nothing but mist with faint outlines of figures. The Woman looks to them and they nod their heads.

Allison - (sighs in relief and turns to Eve and Morgan) Remember, Newman's biggest weakness is his vanity. He works with DNA. Think about this. He is not as young as he looks. Exploit this and you will stop him. Beware of tales and legends for they are not just stories, they hold a great deal of truth. Remember the memories Eve, even the bad ones no matter how painful, they will serve to benefit you in the future. Every force and action has an equal and opposite reaction. The same is true for the Messenger. And remember there is a prophecy that if a Messengers blood is spilt, cleansed or no, Hell will be released, evil will grow.

Eve - Is that it? It's just riddles.

Allison - I'm sorry. I can't tell you anymore.

Allison backs away to the misty figures. The Woman's clothes turns to a long white flowing dress and Allison's clothes change to a long purple flowing dress. Both The Woman and Allison change to misty figures like the ten figures behind them and all vanish. Morgan and Eve stand there confused and mystified. Fade out.

Fade into Eve's apartment. Craig is standing looking out at the twinkling stars and city from her balcony window. Eve is sitting behind him.

Craig - She said all that huh?

Eve - Yeah

Craig - Way to be vague.

Eve - We'll figure it out. . . I really misjudged her. You were right

Craig - Well, she wasn't who she said she was that's for sure.

Eve - Her feelings for you were real. She wasn't using you. I think she cared for you and I think she would have stayed if it wasn't for this other woman you love. (Craig tries to avoid Eve's glance by looking at the floor) It's Alex isn't it? It's always been her.

Craig - (sighs) You're a loving and passionate person Eve. I thought maybe . . . maybe you could have filled this hole left by . . . well . . . That's why I liked Allison. She was someone who I could turn to, who accepted and understood.

Eve - I'm here too Craig. I'm here for you and I love you but . . .not that way. I think I've always known that and I think you've always known you didn't love me that way either.

Craig - It took Allison to help me figure it out. . . .I miss Alex

Eve - I know. Me too.

Craig - I think . . . I think I need to get back to work and focus on the mission. I'm making some headway with getting the ingredients for the antidote. And with Newman on the run for now he won't be making more hybrids. It'll buy us time.

Craig appears confident as he walks out of the apartment. Eve's watches him go sadly.

Eve - (voice over commentary as she looks out the window) I really was wrong about Allison. I hope she's alright where ever she is. She risked everything to save the entire existence of the world. I will use her information wisely and make sure her sacrifice is not in vain. I'm afraid though that even with the information I have, it will not be enough. She broke all her rules to make a difference, do I have the same will, the same drive? I hope I have what it takes to stop the oncoming evil. I need to be strong and hopefully my friends are with me.

Voice at the door - Eve?

Eve turns around and looks at James standing there with his backpack and suit case at the doorway. He looks well rested and he is smiling.

Eve- (smiles) James!
