Open with the sound of rock music playing. Close up of Eve's feet bounding down the stairs from her apartment, through the back room and into the centre. She jumps out in front of the bar where Craig is sitting. He laughs at her energy.

Craig - Over your cold I see

Eve - You bet. I feel as if I could take on anything. Where's Alex? I want to fix those leaky pipes she's been complaining about

Alex - Already done

Eve and Craig turn around and their eyes pop open.

Craig - Whoa!

Pan over to Alex with wet hair and shirt, holding up a monkey wrench

Alex - Nothing that a monkey wrench can't fix.

Eve - Was that before or after you got drenched?

Alex - After. (sighs) Why can't I just do things like normal people?

Craig - If you really want to do what everybody else does, next time call a plumber.

Eve rolls her eyes at Craig and Alex smiles ruefully

Alex - Thanks for the tip Mr Don't Fix-It. Eve, can I bother you for a dry shirt?

Eve - Sure. Go on upstairs

Alex turns around to go through the back room

Eve turns back to Craig looking at him intently.

Craig - What?

Eve – I’m worried about her. Aren't you?

Craig - Everyday but I'm not sure what you're getting at

Eve – We’ve made her so afraid of becoming like the Olympians she’s repressing her powers. She’s cutting her self off from who is, because she’s afraid of what she might do.

Craig - I think she's got the right idea. I don't want her to rely on her powers to get things done. Its useful for what we do at night no question. But she shouldn’t use it for everyday things.

Eve - I know what it's like to try to hide from who you are. And the more she denies herself, represses her powers, she won’t be of any use for the things we do at night.

Craig – After what you've gone through I can't believe your preaching this. There is northing wrong with her doing normal stuff and being like everyone else.

Male voice - Now who would want to live like that?

Pan around to see a young man in his early thirties with dirty blond hair and green eyes dressed in a black stylishly cut suit. Eve and Craig eye him suspiciously

Eve - Can I help you?

Man - I'm looking for the owner of this (looks at his surroundings with distaste) establishment.

Eve - She's busy right now. If you'd like to leave a message I can give it to her later

Man - It's important that I see her now. Where is she?

Craig - (eyes the rude and suspicious man) Who wants to know?

Man - My name is Evander. I'm her father

Cut to the Centre

Eve - (shock and surprise) Her father!

Alex - What about my father?

Alex walks into the centre her shirt is now dry but now her hair is tied back in a damp ponytail. She looks to Evander who instantly straightens up and looks at her with awe

Alex - Who's this guy?

Craig - (slowly looks to Alex) Your father

Alex - Ha! Very funny Craig. (looks between Craig and Eve who both shrug) What are you trying to pull? This guy doesn't look much older then I am

Evander - Ambrosia. Takes years off your face (looks to Alex who still looks like she doesn't believe him.) What God like power will it take to convince you that I am your father? A fire ball, levitation?

Alex - So what? You're a god. It doesn’t prove you're my father. I don’t know you.

Evander - But I know everything about you. Persephone gave birth to you twenty-eight years ago. She left you with those nuns, without so much as a name. But your adoptive parents named you well. A good Greek name, one of greatness. Both died in a car crash when you were fifteen. You were then taken in by Craig Summer's family.

Craig - That sort of stuff can be found out anywhere

Evander - (sighs) Seven months ago you were shot in the stomach. Your long dormant powers and your immortality were activated. For the first time, you realized your true self. Thanks to Ares

Alex - (shakes her head stepping away from him trying to take all this in) Why are you here?

Craig - Alex, you can't believe this guy?

Alex - What would be the point of lying about any of this?

Evander - I'm here with great purpose. We need you Alexandra.

Alex - I don't understand. What do you mean?

Evander - I'm offering you a chance to take your place with your true family. Embrace who you are and become the new Goddess of War

Alex - What!?

Eve - There already is a God of War.

Evander – Not anymore. Ares is dead.

Craig, Eve and Alex gasp in shock. Eve falls back a little and bangs into the counter behind her.

Eve - What!!??

Alex – How . . . how can he be . . . he’s gone? Just like that?

Craig - But how!? . . . He's a god!!!

Evander - (sadly but sternly) Ares was killed at the hands of a mortal who held the Hines Blood dagger

*Flash to Evander's memory*

Ares is standing with Evander in a park.

Ares - You know what you have to do. She will listen. You're her father.

Evander - You're my father and I don't listen to you much

Ares - That just proves that you are my son. Stubbornness runs in the family. There's a lot of that in Alex as you will realize but you have to talk to her.

Evander - Why do you care so much?

Ares – You know why. I know what you did

Evander – It doesn’t matter.

Ares – She matters! She may hold the key to our survival, to the rebirth of our family. We're a dying breed Evander, you know this. After all you've done to try and make her realize her true heritage you can not let her slip away now. I found her now you have to talk to her.

British Man's voice - Oh Ares

Ares turns around not surprised but rather annoyed

*End Flash*

Craig - How can anyone get their hands on the Hines Blood dagger in the 21st century?

Evander - Perhaps Alex, you and I should talk about this alone

Alex - (breathing heavy awaiting the rest of the tale) Say what you have to. What happened to Ares?

Evander - (sighs annoyed) One of my father’s disposed acolytes attacked us. A mortal named Ronin.

*Flash*

Ronin stands there wearing pants big boots and a hospital gown. His hair is a mess and sticking up

Ronin - I have a present for you (holds up a dagger)

Ares - Oh give me a break

*End Flash*

Evander - (casts his eyes downward and his voice becomes strangled as if he is trying to hold back tears) I don’t know how he got the dagger. But . . . he charged at Ares and struck him straight in the chest.

*Flash*

Ronin - AHHHHHHH!!!!!

He charges at Ares with the dagger raised high but just as he reached Ares, Ares grabbed Ronin by the neck and lifted him up

Ares - You're pathetic

Ronin then swiftly brings the dagger down and plunges it in Ares chest causing him to drop Ronin. Ares falls to the ground in front of Evander wide eyed. Ronin runs over takes the dagger out and runs off screaming

Ronin - HINES BLOOD IS A WONDERFUL THING RIGHT FROM THE RUINS OF GREECE!!!!!!

Evander runs over to Ares and picks him up slightly to settle in his arms

Evander - Father?

Ares – Go to her. She will listen. You're her father

Ares closes his eyes and fades away

*End Flash*

Evander - (looks up his eyes shining with tears. He turns his head and blinks them away) My father died in my arms and the bastard got away.

Eve - (sits down in a chair stunned about all of this) Ares . . .is dead. He was killed by Ronin?

Alex - (sits down on a stool saddened) He must have been upset with Ares for abandoning him and his cult

Evander - (walks over to Alex) The point is Ares is now dead and we need someone to take his place. Not just anyone can be a god of war. It has been discussed and agreed that one of his line should take his place.

Alex - (looks at him in annoyance and anger) Then why don't you do it?

Evander – At one time that may have been possible. Olympus used to over flow with Gods but thanks the Bringer of Twilight things have changed. (looks at Eve coldly)

Eve - That wasn't my fault

Evander ignores Eve and focuses on Alex. He moves toward her but Craig steps in his way. He looks at Craig with some anger but looks past him to Alex

Evander - I rule the underworld now. And at present it needs my full attention. We can’t keep shuffling duties, taking on more then we can. We don’t have the power we used to. With the God of War gone Aphrodite will lose her mind and her powers. We can't afford to lose anymore of our kind. There could be chaos

Craig - You don't know that?

Evander - What are you willing to risk to find out? Alex, we need you.

Alex - (shakes her head) I . . . I . . . I can't

Evander - You can! It is in your blood. It is who you are

Craig - Maybe you should leave her alone

Evander - Maybe you should let her decide

Alex stands up flipping the table over in anger and runs into the backroom

Craig - Alex!!(runs into the backroom after her)

Eve sighs sadly and closes her eyes. Evander looks at her with disdain

Evander - I don't know what you're so upset about. Ares is just one less god you have to tangle with. Your job should be easier now.

Eve - (Stands up and faces Evander) My job?

Evander - As the Bringer of Twilight

Eve - I was never after the Gods. What happened to the Gods would never have been if not for your own fear. I never wanted anyone to die! (to herself as she sits down again) Especially not Ares

Evander - (having heard her) Ha! I heard of the triangle between you, Ares and Xena. How he dropped you like a bad habit because he thought he had another shot . . .

Eve - Stop it . . .

Evander - Everyone knows that if you had half the backbone you used to, you would have killed him yourself. I mean after the way he corrupted you, betrayed you, . . . tried to kill you.

Eve - (stands up with force knocking the chair over) SHUT UP!!(through gritted teeth) Perhaps normal human emotion is beyond your comprehension but try and understand, Ares shaped my life! I even thought I loved him. He gave up his godhood to save my life. He bought me closure with my mother, something I can't owe him enough for. Just because I wouldn't let him infect this world with more war didn't mean I wanted him to die. (brushes past him and walks into the backroom)

Cut to Alex in the backroom as she punches a hole in the wall

Alex - I can't believe he's dead

Craig - This could be a trick you know. There's nothing to say this guy isn't lying!

Alex - (with her back still turned to him) Why would he?

Craig – They want you on their side. They want you to use your powers for their own agenda

Alex – Right, it couldn’t possibly be because I actually mean something to them.

Craig – I don’t mean it like that

Alex - He could have come to me any number of times Craig. When I was growing up, when my parents died, after I got my powers. He never showed!

Craig - And that doesn't bother you?!

Alex - He's here now because he needs me in a real way. It feels different somehow

Eve - (voice from the doorway) It is different. I saw the tears in his eyes and I could hear the anger in his voice. I don't think he would have come here like this if he really didn't need you. Perhaps he wants to have the relationship with you that he never had with his own father. He really did care for Ares.

Craig - Alex, please think about what Evander's offering. He wants you to be the Goddess of War. To say that's a huge responsibility is an understatement.

Alex - I am thinking about what he's offering me.

Craig - And you're seriously considering it?

Eve - To accept his offer would undermine everything we've been working to accomplish. Do you understand what it means to be Ares heir?

Craig – He was known for spreading war and violence. Do you know how many hell mouths would open with that type of negative energy being fostered on earth?

Alex - It's not about being a Goddess of War. Ares asked me to join him, to have a family again and I rejected him. And I stupidly thought he’d always be there, that I’d always have someone to turn to if I needed it.

Craig - Is this what this is about? Haven’t I always been there for you? Don't I count for something?

Alex - Of course you do but I'm a god and Ares was the only person who understood what that meant

Eve - With Ares nothing is ever as simple as he made it out to be.

Alex - Maybe it is that simple Eve. Evander is offering me a family. An identity.

Craig - Yeah and it comes with a pretty big price tag.

Eve - Following Ares path . . . a path of violence . . . Is that really what you want?

Alex - I feel obligated to take his place

Eve - (looks to Alex in fury) What about your obligation to us and our mission! This is not who you are!

Craig - Weren't you saying she shouldn't deny who she is?

Eve - That's not what I meant. . . By all means, have a relationship with your father, find out who you are but you should use your powers to stop war and hate. Not create it!

Alex - (glares at her) Oh thanks, you know its really nice to know my "friends" and "family" have such confidence in me. Am I so incompetent that you need to stage an intervention for every decision I make?

Craig - You're being absurd!

Alex - Was it so bad wanting to do things like normal everyday people that you thought I was hiding from who I was?

Eve - I was just worried. When you have so much power it's easy to give in. We have talked about it so many times. I know it scares you. I just didn’t want you to deny who you are in order to control your powers.

Alex – So it’s fine that I use my powers for your benefit but I can’t use them for what they’re really for.

Craig – I think we’re all missing the point here!

Alex - Oh I haven’t! I think I see everything a little too clearly now. In fact, you've helped me make up my mind (pushes past Craig and Eve and walks back into the centre. Craig and Eve follow her)

Cut to the centre where Evander is there waiting. Alex walks in and she stops short at Evander still waiting there by the bar.

Alex - You're still here!!

Evander - It is an important decision you have to make. I wanted to be here. I wanted to convince you make the right choice.

Alex - I already have. I accept. I will become the Goddess of War

COMMERCIAL

Eve - Alex what are you doing??

Alex - (ignoring her) So what do I have to do? Eat ambrosia or something?

Evander -It's not that easy.

Alex – Tell me what I have to do.

Eve pushes herself in front of Evander to face Alex

Eve - You can't do this Alex. You can't become the God of War. It means death. It means destruction!

Alex - Just trying to not deny who I am

Eve - That is not what I meant and you know it!

Evander - If you were really her friend Bringer you would realixe she has made her decision and let her be

Eve - (turns to face Evander) My name is Eve

Alex - And my name is Alex, the Goddess of War

In a flash of light Evander transports himself and Alex away.

Cut to an open clearing in the light of day. Alex is transported there. She is startled as she looks around. She is alone. Evander comes up behind her with a cup of coffee.

Evander – Here

Alex turns around startled. She looks at him as he hands her the coffee.

Evander – Don’t mortals like this sort of thing?

Alex takes the coffee slowly as Evander gestures to a bench for them to sit down. Alex walks over and sits down on the bench. She takes a sip of the coffee as Evander sits beside her.

Alex- What are we doing here?

Evander – I wanted to explain fully what you are agreeing to.

Alex – Ah . . . so there is a catch.

Evander – Let me ask you, why do you want to do this?

Alex – You came to me! You asked this of me!

Evander – Your friends aren’t wrong about Ares, about what having his powers would mean. You see, Ares has always embodied destruction, slaughter, violence. It was his nature but he also knew how to control it. You’re untrained, and with all that power you could become a dangerous force. Even the balance that Aphrodite naturally provides would not be enough.

Alex – And you would help me? You would train me to withstand that power?

Evander – It depends on why you want this?

Alex – (puts down her coffee and stands up she walks a small distance from him) I’ve never fit in anywhere. All my life, I’ve been different, set apart from others. After my parents died it was worse. I was just . . . existing, trying to get to the next moment. When Craig asked me to help with his mission I felt like I had purpose. Now Eve is here and I’m on the sidelines again. They said they need me but it feels more like I’m a blunt instrument.

Evander – You don’t fit in . . . again.

Alex - I don’t know who I am, what I’m supposed to do, how I’m supposed to do it. This is not about being the God of War. This is learning about how to be . . . just be. I know the powers of Ares have a savage quality but it has a place in the universe. It serves a purpose. I want that. With help and understanding maybe I can put it to better use, against evil forces.

Evander – (walks over to Alex and stands in from of her) Like the demons you fight (see Alex’s confused look) Ares told me. (nods) You know, the Olympians have been dwindling in power for centuries. Some of us exist as no more than stories, others have dwindled away to nothing. You’d think it would make us open to change, look for ways to be apart of the world, find new blood. Instead it’s the opposite. We’ve closed ranks. . . We’ve become myopic, obsessed with preserving power as it once was. We’re almost racist. . . There are some who don’t want you as the God of War. Too mortal.

Alex – (rolls her eyes) Charming

Evander – I believe we need you. But it will take more than my word to convince them.

Alex – Like what?

Evander – Prove yourself. Become a vessel of vengeance, the force that Ares was. Kill the one that took Ares life.

Alex – What? . . . No.

Evander – You must kill Ronin. With the Hines Blood Dagger, he has become a God Slayer. He is a danger to all of us and with an unstable mind he is a danger to the mortals as well.

Alex – (shakes) I can’t kill him. I won’t!

Evander – (sighs in disappointment)If anything else we need Ares killer be brought to justice

Alex – I agree he should be stopped. But Ronin needs help. We should find him and stop him before he hurts anyone else. And we take the Hines Blood Dagger away from him. Destroy it so no God will ever be hurt again. Perhaps that will convince the Gods that I have an interest in protecting your lives as well.

Evander – (sighs and relents a little) It’s a start

Fade to Centre later in the day. No one is there now. Just Eve, who has been pacing back and forth. Craig bangs at the door. Eve walks over to unlock the door to let him in.

Craig – You’re not opening up?

Eve – No, not until I know Alex has come back to her senses. We can’t let her do this. Have you found her?

Craig – (shakes his head) I checked her loft, I checked the cemetery, the church. I don’t know where she is. Evander could have taken her anywhere. She could be a God by now.

Eve – (scoffs) Please, I know the Gods better than she does. She’s still part mortal. They would need some sort of test . . . proof that she has what it takes to embrace that sort of mantle.

Craig – I feel like this is my fault. You know . . . she just wants to be accepted and loved. Maybe if I wasn’t so hard on her.

Eve – Maybe if I had have treated her more like friend instead of a weapon.

Craig – I guess we’ve all been acting like nothing has changed, when in fact everything is different. . .

Eve – We need to find her.

Craig – The world does need a God of War Eve.

Eve – It shouldn’t be Alex.

Craig – Why?

Eve – Because she won’t be Alex anymore.

Craig – Well what kind of test would be expected of her.

Eve – Ares was . . .the personification of destruction. He thrived on the decimation of mankind. Maybe she needs to prove that she can be like that without letting it overtake her.

Craig – What about loyalty? Wouldn’t she need to prove that she is loyal to the Olympians? What kind of test would show these sorts of things?

Eve – (realizing something) By eliminating a threat. Like killing a God Killer

Craig – She needs to kill Ronin

Eve – Avenge Ares death, eliminate a threat. . . its exactly what she’d have to do. . . We can’t let her. You can't go back once the blood is stained on your hands. That kind of thing haunts you forever!

Craig - Ronin isn't exactly innocent Eve

Eve - But he still has a soul and if Alex kills him she will damn her own soul. How can we make her see this before it's too late? (looks at Craig for an answer who just looks at the ground) This is where you come in Craig. You say something encouraging and then we know what to do

Craig - Let's be hypothetical for a second. If she really does kill Ronin, a man who has already killed far too many, to avenge Ares, would it really be so bad?

Eve – Are you serious?

Craig – And if she becomes the God or War not only would she be saving Aphrodite from going insane and keeping the balance, Alex could use her stronger powers to stop wars instead of start them.

Eve – This is not just about Alex becoming the God of War. I know how it feels to hold the power of life and death in your hands. It's changes you. And when there are no consequences, nothing to hold you back, you become numb to pain of others and want only the intoxication that comes with the power. You lose your humanity, love, compassion. Then imagine one day is comes back in a flurry and you see the destruction and pain that you caused. If that kind of agony doesn't kill you, you wish it would.

Craig – Wow Eve . . . I mean I knew of the regret you felt but I never imagined the way it felt for you.

Eve - Do you want that for Alex? That will be the result if she kills a man.

Craig – (nods) Get in the car. We’ll drive until we find them.

Eve – We need to find her Craig. If she does this and becomes the Goddess of War . . .

Craig – We’re not looking for her. We’re looking for Ronin.

Cut to a wooded area in the night. Alex is now dressed in leather pants and has a blue tank top on with a leather jacket. She is crouched behind a bush watching for something. We pan back to see she is kneeling beside Evander.

Alex is thinking for a moment. She looks to Evander watching for someone also. Alex turns her gaze back. She takes a breath and whispers.

Alex - When will I get to see Persephone?

Evander - (glances at her briefly) When you complete this mission.

Alex - (thinks a little more) Why haven't you approached me before? Why didn't you try to contact me after my other parents died?

Evander - I tried . . . I wanted to . . .but . . . your powers never emerged. I thought you would never accept me not knowing who you really were. I thought such a traumatic event like that car crash would bring about your powers but they stayed hidden. So, I waited until your powers came forth but weeks turned into months and months into years. I lost track and unfortunately my presence was needed elsewhere.

Alex - Where?

Evander - The underworld has become unstable and unbalanced. It has been for a long time and things I was once able to keep under control have become more unstable. It gets worse the longer I'm away. Ares, took it upon himself to watch over you

Alex is about to say something else when Evander puts his hand up and points to a figure in the distance. Alex and Evander see Ronin come into view. He is staggering a bit and is gnawing on a Twinkie. He kneels down

Evander - Look

Ronin scratches his head then takes the dagger out of his boot. He is still wearing a hospital dressing gown but a has pants and big boots on.

Ronin - What's that Lord Ares? We have to what? . . . Uh huh, Uh huh . . . .Yes Yes I understand perfectly we must kill the rest of the gods . Ah Ha!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

Alex - He's crazy (shakes her head) This is wrong.

Evander - You're right. He's crazy and dangerous.

They look back to Ronin who is still talking to himself

Ronin - What's that Ares? Yes Yes we must take our revenge on the ones who betrayed us yes yes. And we should start with your grand daughter. Yes Oh yes. Why thank you lord Ares I know my plans are always the best. Oh Lord Ares you are too kind but please save your praise for when I kill your granddaughter.

Evander - Listen to him. He will kill you when he gets the chance and he can because of the dagger. He wants to destroy everything.

Alex stands up

Alex - (calls out) You want me

Alex walks out of the bushes. Ronin stands up with his dagger ready

Alex - Come get me.

Ronin screams and runs towards Alex holding the dagger up high. As he reaches Alex his screams are cut off as Alex grabs him by the neck and lifts him up choking him.

Alex - You're pathetic.

Alex sees Ronin bring the dagger down to stab her in the chest but the throws him back. He slides on the ground a little bit. When he regains his equilibrium, Ronin throws the dagger at her. Alex catches by the hilt and throws the dagger to the ground.

Alex - I'm getting really tired of you. I’m trying to help you, you freak show

Ronin - AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Screaming Ronin charges at Alex. He tackles her and pins her to the ground he is screaming and clawing at her face. Alex is trying to hold his hands away from her finally she kicks him off. He goes flying to the ground and skids to a stop. He sees the dagger. He grabs it and slashes Alex in the midriff slicing her jacket just as she was about to pick him up. Stunned by this she stumbles back and Ronin runs off

Alex - Damn it!

Evander runs over to her concerned!

Evander – Did he hurt you? Did he cut you at all!!

Alex – (inspects her self) No. There’s no cut, he just sliced my jacket!

Evander – (sighs with relief) You should just kill him and have done with it!

Alex - You could have helped you know

Evander - I don't need to prove myself. You do!!

Alex – He’s a mess

Evander – He’s a menace. As long as he had that dagger he is a danger to everyone. Most of all you and me!! You can’t help him, you have to stop him. He killed one of our own. Our family!! We deserve justice. Vengeance!!

Alex goes back to inspecting her jacket

Evander – (grabs her arm and turn her attention back to him) You want to be accepted among us? You want identity, purpose? You want to be someone! Do this! Embrace who you truly are!!

Alex – (rips her arm away) He ruined my jacket. I'm going to take out that mortal's intestines and use them to jump rope (runs off after Ronin)

Evander - (smirks and nods as he watches her run off) That's Daddy's little girl!

COMMERCIAL

Eve is running through the streets until she reaches the outskirts of a wooded area she stops for a moment to look around. Craig comes up behind her and stops catching his breath and heaving

Craig - Eve . . .. . stop running . . . . . we can . . . . . .go back and get my car . . . . . . . . .can cover more ground

Eve - There's no time for that.

Craig – Ronin could have gone in any direction

Eve - Or maybe he’s coming from that direction (points into the wooded area)

Craig - How do you know?

Eve - Because he’s running this way

Pan over to Ronin in the distance running out of the woods screaming holding the dagger in his hand

Ronin - Help me!! Help me!!!

Eve grabs Ronin by the arms

Eve - Ronin calm down

Ronin - You!!!(starts slashing at Eve)

Eve dodges the slashes. Then catches Ronin's arm pushes it away then kicks the dagger out of his hand

Eve – Ronin, Listen to me. We are here to protect you

Ronin - She's after me. She's after me. Shhhhhhh. (Elmer Fudd impression) Be vewy vewy quiet

Eve - Who is after you?

Ronin - (whispers)Ares grand daughter(screams) AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Eve - Calm down!

Alex - RONIN!!

Alex walks out of the woods in the distance

Alex - We have unfinished business

Eve - Craig protect Ronin

Eve pushes Ronin behind her and Craig holds on to him

Alex - Get out of the way Eve

Eve - No.

Alex - I'm warning you

Eve - And I'm warning you. Do you want to damn your soul? If you want to kill him so badly you've got to go through me

Evander - (appears on the scene) Do it. Just kill her. She's all that stands between you and total god hood

Alex - I can't deny who I am Eve

Eve - You are still denying yourself. You deny the mortal in you. Alex, I know the path you will head down if you kill him. Can you really do that? Is that who you are? The very thing we are fighting against

Alex looks at Eve for a moment like she is hesitating

Ronin - (from beside Craig jumps up and down laughing) I killed war! I killed war!!!! YOU WILL BE NEXT YOU HALF BRED BITCH!!

Alex narrows her eyes in anger then pushes Eve out of the way. She grabs Ronin out of Craig's hands and lifts him high above her head. Eve gets up and kicks Alex in the stomach causing her to double over and drop Ronin on the ground. He crawls away and picks up the dagger. Pan back over to Eve as she stands in fighting stance against Alex

Alex - You don't know what you're up against Eve

Alex does a round house kick and Eve ducks then back spin around and back hands Alex in the face. Alex then spin around and back hands Eve. Alex throws a kick and Eve blocks it with a kick of her own. Alex kicks twice more Eve blocks one kick with one of her own then pushes Alex leg back on the second kick then kicks the legs out from under her. Alex propels her self back up with her legs and just as she is about to hit Eve when Craig tackles Alex and pins her arms back

Alex - What are you doing?

Craig - Saving you from yourself

Alex flips Craig over her back

Cut to Ronin on the ground who picks up the dagger. He is met with a pair of feet. He looks up. We pan up to Evander

Evander - I could just kill you myself but this is my daughter's test

Evander kicks Ronin in the stomach and he goes flying to land in front of Alex who has a lightening ball ready to strike. But Ronin whips up and slashes her in the face she falls back cupping her cheek as blood pours out.

Eve - NO!!

Eve picks Ronin up and grabs the dagger out of his hand and throws it into a tree. She then grabs a hold of him by the shirt and looks into his eyes

Close up on his eyes. They look sad and hurt. Tears well around them

Eve releases her grip on him slightly and a glow appears around Eve and Ronin.

Eve - In the name of Eli and all the powers in heaven. May you banish the evil in your heart. Let go of hate and power and open your heart to truth and light. Will you?

Ronin - (whispers in sadness) Yes. Yes, I will

The light fades from them and Eve lets go of Ronin. He sinks to his knees and is just stunned

Ronin - What have I done?

Eve puts a hand on Ronin's head and sighs. She looks over to Alex who is being tended to by Craig. She has seen what Eve has done. Eve walks over

Craig - She's okay. I cleaned out the wound so the blood shouldn't affect her. But there is going to be a bit of a scar. Unusual for a God

Alex - (looks upon Ronin) What did you do to him?

Eve - Showed him the light.

Alex - You changed him (stands up and turns to Evander)

Evander - What are you waiting for? Just kill him. He defenceless now!!

Alex - This is wrong. He's changed. I can't kill him

Evander - Yes you can!! You must avenge Ares death

Alex - You avenge him if it's so important to you. I won't kill him

Evander - Don't you see? I'm doing this for you. I've arranged this for you. You can be the new God of War

Alex – I’m not cut out for Godhood. I never was.

Cut to Eve Craig and Ronin.

Ronin - I'm sorry. I can't believe what I've done

Eve puts a comforting hand on Ronin's arm but Craig is still curious

Craig - Where did you get the dagger stained with Hines blood?

Ronin - A man gave it to me. I don't know why but he just gave it to me and gave me a way to escape. (looks to Craig and Eve who are satisfied with the answer for now) What do I do now?

Eve - Go back to the hospital. You need help. But after that go back to your home. Do you have family?

Ronin - Yes.

Eve - Go back to them. I'm sure they are worried about where you are.

Ronin - Thank you (walks away from them)

Eve and Craig then walk over to Alex who is still talking to Evander

Alex – I don’t want that kind of violence in my life (turns away)

Evander – (grabs her to turn her back) Who do you think arranged that freak car accident so you could break away from those mortals and realise your true potential? Who do you think talked the rest of the gods into giving you this test to become a full one? Everything I did was for you! My daughter!

Alex - (shakes her head in shock) You bastard! (shoves Evander away walks away from him)

Evander - Don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you. I'm your father!!

Alex - (whips around to face him) You're not my father!! My father is dead! And you killed him

Evander - You are of my line. You can't deny it. You can't deny who you are!

Alex - I'm not. I'm me, part god and part mortal.

Alex walks away from Evander. Craig catches up to her and puts his arm around her shoulder. Eve stands there facing Evander.

Eve- And all good.

Eve walks away and Evander takes a deep breath as he watches Alex walks away.

Evander - I won't give up on you.

Thunders out in a flash of blue light and smoke

COMMERCIAL

Fade in to the underworld in Hades. Evander walks though with a crystal glass in his hand and a crown upon his head. He throws the glass and it smashes against the wall. We pan down to his torso while two slender arms encircle around it. We pan up to see Persephone there with Evander.

Persephone - I take it all did not go well

Evander - No.

Persephone – Then we must shift our duties. Let Apollo control war as was intended.

Evander – We are all being spread too thin. Things cannot go on this way

Persephone – Was this about finding a new god of war or about finding our daughter?

Evander sighs but does not answer. Persephone knows the truth

Persephone – You must give her time. She must come to us on her own.

Evander - How are things here?

Persephone - Worse. The battle has escalated.

We pan back as Persephone and Evander turn around as all sorts of damned souls run out of Tartarus and the guards of the Elysian fields are trying to hold them off but are being brutally killed in the process.

Fade to a church. Eve and Alex a dressed in black and are standing in front of rows of candles. Craig comes into view. He is dressed in a suit as he comes to stand by Alex

Craig – I have news of Ronin. He was taken back to the psyche ward and re-evaluated. He has what his doctors call a miraculous turn in his condition. He has perception and clarity of events he has never shown before. The Doctors say he should be released in a few weeks.

Eve – Good. He can go back to his family, maybe do some good in the world

Alex looks lost in thought. Eve nudges her a little

Eve - What's wrong?

Alex - Everything. I freaked out, lost all control.

Eve – But you stopped yourself. You made amends. You’re on the right path. Its not easy but you’re determined to do good while finding your way. That’s what counts.

Alex – But now that I've found out what Evander did I feel more lost then ever.

Craig – Look, we all could have handled this better. We've been selfish but we also care about you and your well being. . . This is new territory, be patient and help us work through it.

Alex – Please try to understand, it's not that I was denying who I am, it's just that I don't know who I am.

Eve - Join the club.

Alex - When Evander came I thought I could find who I am with a family but I didn't realize that my family is here with you and Craig

Eve – (smiles) We know who you are Alex. Part god and part mortal but all good

Craig - (smiles) And all rebel

Alex smiles a little bit as she takes a slender candle to light.

Alex – You know, Ares could be a real jerk sometimes but he brought me in touch with something I didn’t realize I was missing. Helped me understand pieces of myself I never understood before. Is it weird that I miss him?

Eve – No, I miss him too. I loved him a long time ago. He saved my life, reunited me with my mother. For all his savage god hood, he was a good man

Craig – He was . . .one of a kind.

Alex – (lights a candle on the alter) For Ares. May he find the peace he never knew in life.

Eve – As may we all

Fade from the church to the war in Tartarus.
