The Two Holts
This is the story of two holts. One is controlled by StarSinger, the oldest chieftess. Her holt is named after her, StarSinger Holt. She found the holt abandoned but already shaped with room for many elves. Elves come and go but a few stay. Her holt lives mostly in peace with the forest around them. Twice a year, a group of wandering trolls come by. They live in what they call caravans, driven by animals from the desert. They bring goods from the caverns of the trolls and from the lands of the Sun-People. They trade these goods for things they cannot get for themselves: food, leather, and hides. StarSinger avoids the humans whenever possible, but before QuickSpear she and her holt had a neutral relationship with them. Now, only she is allowed into the human abodes for all of them recognize her as a gentle and different elfess as told within their legends.
The Cracked Ice Holt is led by QuickSpear, a dark and angry chief. He despises all trolls and humans. His holt members are wild and enjoy the hunt as much as can any elf. They make frequet attacks on the humans and steal from the trolls. Every once in a while they will visit the holt of StarSinger. The holt is so named because most of the members have hearts as cold as ice, and many of them have been hurt by the humans or trolls. Some have even come from StarSinger Holt when they felt the need for more action. QuickSpear accepts any who will swear an oath to his holt and to protect it no matter what the cost.
