Shawn Crahan (drums), Anders Colsefni (vocals), Paul Gray (bass), Donnie Steele (guitar), and Kun Nong (guitar) start rehearsals in Colsefni's basement where they play for 2 years.

February
Kun Nong leaves because he is not a "metal" guitar player.

May
Joey Jordison Joins as a new drummer while Shawn remains as a second percussoinist..

September
Josh Brainard joins as another guitarist to fill out the sound.



Spring and Summer
Band forms and rehearses in Anders Colsefni's basement.

November
Band plays gig at Crowbar under the name Meld.

December
Band visits SR Audio and Sean McMahon comes to practice. They begin recording.

Donnie leaves because playing with Slipknot was against his Christian beliefs. Craig Jones joins to fill his spot as a guitarist.

April
Mick Thompson joins as the new guitarist after Craig Jones turns to full sampler.



Spring
Slipknot name is chosen. Gigs at Safari Club. Mixdown of MFKR.

October
MFKR album is launched.

Corey Taylor joins as backup vocalist.

June
Anders leaves as he notices he is slowly being replaced by Corey.

September
Greg "Cuddles" Welts, who had worked on tattoos on Colsefni, joins in place of Colsefni.



Summer
Dotfest; vocalist shuffle.

Autumn
Ross Robinson contacted by Sophia John.

December
Robinson visits Slipknot.

Greg is fired from the band for unknown reasons.

August
Chris Fehn joins in place of Cuddles.

October
Sid Wilson joins as DJ.



May
Slipknot plays EATM festival in Las Vegas.

Slipknot signs deal with Roadrunner.

Slipknot enters Indigo Ranch to record debut album.

Josh Brainard leaves after everybody begs him to stay becuase he was not ond of the some of the choices that Slipknot was making.

James Root joins in place of Josh.



June
Slipknot album released.

Summer
Ozzfest.

Livin La Vida Loco tour of USA and Canada.
