Simon Morris

Simon Morris and Tapestry are privates of the Rylan Class of 77 ADT.  Simon was born in Groley Woods in 56 ADT.  His father was a lumberjack, and his father's father was a lumberjack, and his father's grandfather was a lumberjack, and so it was expected that he would be, too.  Indeed, Morris started on that path at the age of 11, joining his father in the woods everyday and sitting with the "men" at village parties.  He was happy enough with his life, but as he grew older he desired to leave Groley Woods for awhile and see the world.  Understanding a young man's wanderlust, and confident that he'd return, Simon's parents let him go, never imagining he wouldn't come back.  But he didn't.  In 72 ADT, Simon joined the Academy.  He sent a letter home telling them of the good news and then didn't see them again until he graduated in 77 ADT.

Simon had big dreams when he joined the Academy, and he worked hard to achieve them.  Strong and well-muscled from his upbringing, he attracted a lot of female attention during his years at the Academy, and he was always willing to return it.  He got a reputation for being a sort of "loverboy" that followed him for years after graduation.  Still, he did well in his classes and bonded in 77 to Tapestry, graduating later.  He and Tap performed well on their circuits, but never outstanding, and as she developed her talent, he got less and less chance to work on his own skills.  They spent most of the next thirty years in cities, rarely getting field work in out-of-the-way places, though that was what Simon had always hoped for.  But he loved his bondmate and, as all bondeds, was devoted to her, and so never complained out loud, instead throwing himself into study of Zadiago, his biggest dream of all.  He knew ever going there was a hopeless wish, but that didn't stop him from becoming one of the experts on the country.  Not that it ever did him much good.

Simon was married in 86 ADT but his wife died of illness in 90 ADT and he's never fallen in love again since then.  He is quiet now and not nearly the skirt-chaser he was in his youth.  He is still fascinated by Zadiago and reads all he can about it.  Somewhat self-important, he is usually kind and fatherly, especially to children.  Devoted to his duty, though he resents the fact that at his age he's still just a private, and that when someone asks for him and Tapestry, it's always because of Tap.  Has a younger sister and brother who he occasionally sends letters to.

Simon is 6'1" with grey hair that's balding and blue eyes.

Tapestry was born at the Academy in ST 71 ADT.  Quiet and gentle, she may seem easygoing but has no problems speaking her mind if she sees a problem.  As anyone who knows her learns, her soft outward nature hides a will of iron.  She is Meadow's cousin.

Tapestry's ability is to attach to a human sentence and follow it back to its source thought (works as a lie detector, but also for finding certain information that the human doesn't want to divulge).
