Flutter
An impatient unicorn, Flutter is always fidgeting with nervous energy, unable to stand still for even an instant! Unlike her brother Strawberry, Flutter is brave and very aggressive in the mock battles. This carries over into her personality and most know her as a rather bossy and domineering mare. Not that's she's impish (in an Electra sort of way), or the childish (in a Winter sort of way), or even pretentious (in a Whisper sort of way), Flutter is just an overall, big sister know-it-all sort who hates being contradicted and is convinced that if anyone's got it figured out, it's *her*. She's got a whole gaggle of female friends who admire her independence, confidence, and forthright approach to life (perhaps a few weak-kneed stallions, as well), but there's no small contigent of other 'corns who consider her a royal pain-in-the-neck!
When it comes to fighting and hornplay, Flutter is as eager, clever, and skilled a pupil as any of the colts. Quick to learn new fighting techniques, she is one of the top unicorn fighters in her age group. However quick she is with her horn, however, she is quick-tempered, as well. Before Astrafal's disappearance it wasn't unusual to see her being reprimanded by the Headmaster or his Bonded for picking unnecessary (but, of course, harmless) fights. Since Astrafal's disappearance she has been somewhat less pugnacious. Perhaps she is growing up, or perhaps she is simply bothered by the reality of such an event so close to home. At any rate, she has doubled her studies in the arena...
Flutter doesn't understand her younger brother's passive nature, but she does accept it and she certainly has a soft spot for the mild-mannered young stallion. They've been even closer, certainly, since last winter when their parents--Moth and Applethorn--died while trying to put down a gang war in Chihalla. Flutter would do any thing for her little brother, and is especially protective of him and the way he chooses to live his life. In fact, despite her accolades in the sparring arena, she has and will continue to defend Strawberry's right not to fight, much to the Elders' dismay.
If one were to call Flutter Strawberry's opposite in every way, her talent certainly would be no point of contention. The lanky pink mare can make anyone within five feet of herself burst into uncontrollable laughter (though, unfortunately, without the "happy" feeling that usually accompanies that reflex). Anyone who has ever been paralyzed by a particularly good joke would understand the power of such a talent in battle.
