Handling

When you are holding your rat, you do not have to squeeze it. Hold it gently with two hands and snuggle your pet up against your body. One hand should support the front paws and shoulder area and the other one should cradle the hind legs.
Young rats can easily be picked up by grasping them around the body, just bhind the front legs.
When handling older rats, becareful and talk so they will relax.

Editors Note: DO NOT EVER...I MEAN EVER PICK UP A RAT BY ITS TAIL, IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM! If you do the rats tail skin will peel off and expose the vertebrae underneath. I have seen it and it ain't pretty.
