What do you need? Forgot your lunch again?" the short geek pushed his coke-bottle glasses further up his nose. "Melvin, I need your help." Serena gasped as she ran up to him. Melvin's face lit up. "You do? What do you want me to do? I'll do anything for you, just say the words." "Melvin." Serena growled threateningly. "Sorry" he answered meekly. "What information do you have on those two new girls, Katy and Beth? They seem to have a secret that they won't tell anyone. Do you know anything about them?" "I'm working on it. Unfortunately, sources on this particular subject are scarce. Those two have themselves pretty well covered." "Is that your hobby? Butting into other people's lives? Are you the Gossip King?" a sarcastic voice asked from behind them. Serena and Melvin turned to see Katy and Beth standing there. Beth had suddenly found her feet very interesting. Katy was burning with anger. "Uh-oh" whispered Serena. "Yep. Melvin, that's your name, right? I hope your 'resources' told you that I am also an experienced fighter. I will not hesitate to defend our privacy. Now I suggest that when you return home today, you disconnect your Internet and stop consulting your 'sources'. Otherwise, both you and them will meet a very unpleasant fate. Understand?" Melvin nodded so hard that his glasses almost fell off his face. "And you, Serena. I suggest that you mind your own business unless otherwise notified. We have our reasons. Reasons you may someday know. If we so wish." Katy's face softened. "I would still like to be your friend. You just have to respect our privacy. But I'm sure you know that right? You know that everyone has... secrets. Secrets that are better not revealed. For the sake of others as well as ourselves." Katy turned. "We should go. See ya around, Serena. C'mon Beth." Serena watched as they disappeared around a corner. Did they know... Impossible. But there was definitely something weird about those two. The trouble was, she had felt it before. And yet she couldn't put her finger on it. ******************************************************************************** "MOM, I'M HOME! I BROUGHT A FRIEND, TOO!" Serena yelled up the stairs. Katy had come with her, but Beth had dancing lessons and couldn't make it. "Hello, dear. Who's this?" Ilene Tsukino asked as she entered the room with her ever-present spatula. "Mom, this is Katy. Katy, this is my mom. "Pleased to meet you, Mrs. Tsukino." "Pleased to meet you too, Katy. Any friend of Serena's is a friend of mine. You're welcome over anytime." "Thank you." "C'mon. I'll show you my room." Serena grabbed Katy's hand, dragged her up the stairs, and burst into her room. As they entered, Katy could have sworn she heard a feminine voice start to call Serena's name, but it was quickly turned into a meow. 'Impossible!' thought Katy. 'Cats can't talk!' 'Eos can talk, and she's a cat.' argued a reasonable part of her mind. 'Yes, but she's from the moon!' 'Well mabey Serena's cat is from the moon.' 'Why would Serena have a cat from the moon? Only people reborn from the Silver Millenium have moon cats. I don't know much about the Silver Millenium, but I know that!' 'What about that strange aura you felt around her earlier?' 'Shut up.' With that, Katy ended her mental argument and returned to reality, only to discover Serena waving a hand in her face. "Hello? Planet Earth to player B!" "Huh?" "Hi Katy. So glad you could join us." Serena said sarcastically. Katy blushed. "Sorry" she mumbled. "I was ... thinking." "Found your ideal man already, have you?" "NO. I like your cat. What's her name?" she asked, hurriedly changing the subject. "Luna." Serena answered. Luna stood and walked over to Katy. She sat down in front of her and began to study her intently. Katy was shocked to see the crescent moon on Luna's forehead. 'Mabey they are from the Silver Millenium' she thought. She glanced at Serena, but she wasn't paying attention. 'Could such a carefree person possibly be a Sailor Scout?' ******************************************************************************** "Serena, I think you should call an emergency Scout meeting." "Why, Luna? I was just getting to a really good part in my Sailor V comic." Serena whined. Katy had long gone home, but Luna couldn't get the girl off her mind. "That girl..." "Katy" "Yeah. There's something about her. I thought I sensed something. But it wasn't..." "I know. It wasn't evil. It was familiar. Like we should know her. From a long time ago." "YOU FELT IT TOO?!?" "Yeah." "Since when did you sense auras?" "I don't know. Would you still like me to call that Scout meeting?" "Please." ******************************************************************************** Katy flipped open her watch-like communicator. (AN: the legendarys are slightly more advanced then the inners. They already have watch communicators, while the inners still have calculators.) She pressed a button and Beth's face appeared on the screen. "Beth, will you get Eve and Eos? Emergency Scout meeting at the Arcade." "Sure thing. See you there in ten minutes." ******************************************************************************** Serena pulled out her calculator-like communicator and hit the All Call button. "Hey guys, emergency Scout meeting at the Arcade in ten minutes. Be there." ******************************************************************************** Lita and Serena were, of course, the last ones to arrive at the arcade. "Sorry we're late guys." Lita explained. "We just saw this really cute hunk who looked..." "Exactly like your old boyfriend! We know!" everyone chorused. Lita blushed. "Am I really that predictable?" "Hey, look who's over there!" exclaimed Serena. "It's Katy and Beth." "Who's the younger girl with them?" asked Mina. "I don't know, but she looks a lot like Beth." "Uh, guys.... do you have any idea as to why they brought their cat to the arcade?" "Well, Luna and Artemis are cats." "They're part of our Scout meeting." "Well, only we know that." "I'm gonna go talk to them." "Serena, this is supposed to be a Scout meeting!" But Serena was already gone. ******************************************************************************** As Serena approached the table, she began to be able to hear the girls conversation. ".... you say her name was Luna?" Serena froze. She could have sworn it was the cat talking! "...and she had a crescent moon? Luna was my best friend in the Silv..." Suddenly the conversation stopped, and all heads turned to look at Serena. "Meow?" asked the fawn colored kitten. For a moment, Serena thought she saw a crescent moon on the kitten's forehead, but when she took a closer look, it wasn't there. Finally, Beth broke the silence. "Hi, Serena. I don't believe you've met my sister, Eve. She goes to Crossroads Elementary. And our silly cat there-" she glared at the kittten "- is Eos. She insisted on coming with us." "Eos... that's the name of the Greek goddess of dawn, isn't it?" "That's right. We wanted to give her a mythical Greek name, and Eos seemed to suit her. Do you like Greek mythology?" asked Eve. "I'm interested in it, especially since my name, Serena, is a version of Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon." "I love mythology, especially Greek. The stories are just so intriguing. Mythology is my favorite subject." Eve smiled sweetly. "My favorite subjects are art and home economics, especially sewing." Katy smiled. "You sound like you'd be a good designer when you grow up." Serena grinned. "When you're famous, will you design my wedding dress for me?" Katy paled and looked to Beth and Eve for help. "I like dance best." Beth said, trying to change the subject. "SERENA!!!" Serena cringed. "That's Raye. I'll talk to you guys later, kay? See ya!" ******************************************************************************** The three girls and one cat sighed in relief as Serena walked back to her table. "That was close. Too close." sighed Beth. "For discovering which of our other identities?" Katy teased. "Both, you twit." giggled Beth. "We should be more careful about our surroundings when we're having meetings." interrupted Eos. "Who was she? She seemed nice. I liked her." announced Eve. "I was getting really powerful vibes from her, but I don't think she's evil." said Eos. "Do ya think she could be a Sailor Scout?" "I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see what happens." "Well, I hope it happens soon. I'm getting suspicious. We haven't had an attack in over a week. Is the Negaverse up to someth..." "YOUMA!!!" the screams came from outside. The girls looked at each other and nodded. ************************** Well, there's sort of a cliffhanger. I'll try to put a better one in the next chapter. How did you like this chapter?
