Chapter 2

Later that night, after watching the news to see what our 'great' president did today, I went to my room. My parents and sisters were already asleep. In my room, I picked up a pen and paper to right a poem.

Moon Light by Jason Diego

As moonlight hit the window, and through to the tatered cloth.
I couldn't help but feel an inner lose.
To know the truth I thought I wanted, was like a atomic blast.
I felt alone, I felt deprived, I felt no inner peace.
I felt the need to move on.

As moonlight hit the window, and through to the emmotionless face.
I thought of things I loved, and thought of thier disgrace.
I will miss them all, as they will for me.
I will always be thier boy.
But to know the things I know, It is time to say good bye!

As I finished up the last line, I felt a tear roll down my cheek and saw it splash to the paper. At that time I decided I had to leave for a while. So I grabbed my biggest backpack and stuffed it with three pairs of pants and five shirts. I went down to the kitchen and grabbed some canned foods, a can opener, fruit, and some bread. Then I heard some footsteps.

"Jaon?" I heard my sister say as she held her favorite doll.

"Yes Lauren?"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm leaving."

"Where?"

"I don't know yet."

"Why?"

"Because I don't feel right here anymore."

"But you are right here, I see you. If you weren't right here, I wouldn't be able to see you." I couldn't help but chuckle.

"I know, you're right. I just don't feel like I should stay."

"Jason?"

"Yeah?"

"What's going to happen to your room if you're not here?"

"You can have it, that way you don't have to ask if you can go in there anymore."

"Wow. Really?"

"Yeah! It's time for you to go to bed little one. Oh, hold on." I shuffled around in my pocket for a second. "Here, give this to Mom and Dad when they wake you up in the morning. Okay?"

"What is it?"

"It's a poem."

"Oh, okay." She said just before she started to skip to her room.

"Oh, and Lauren!"

"Yeah?" She said as she haulted.

"Give me a big squeeze."

"Okay." She said. And she skipped over to me and gave me the most loving hug I had ever had. "Good night." She said with a little yawn.

"G'night. Little Lauren."
