Some people may look at this game as being a beat 'em up like "Turtles the Arcade game". But this is actually a platform type of game, where u fight enemies and various bosses along the way! You can play as any of the 4 turtles and they all have different weapons, speed and strength. Some are better to use than others in certain areas. You can change between them by pressing the return key.
Here above we see Leonardo fighting BeeBop in a sewer, which takes place very, very early in the game! Will you be able to rescue April this quickly? You will have to wait and see! :)
The game has 2 parts to it. You start off playing in bird's eye view, then you have to find a sewer or building to enter to go on to the side on gameplay! then you leave and go elsewhere. The game has many locations to visit, but you don't have to visit them all. You have to find the right places to go further on the levels, as some buildings and sewers have dead ends which means you have to go back out the way you came in! also there are some places you don't have to visit, that can be useful if you want to pick up some inventory which may be of use to u at a later stage in the game!
This is one of the most toughest bosses you will face in the game! the green spitballs it fires at you are very deadly, and take off a lot of life if a lot hit you at once! Back when I was 7 I used to call it "The Giant Mouser" for some reason. lol and I still remember that name to this day. It is no walk over whatsoever! and try using the shirkens from either side of the screen from long range (if you have already picked some up that is). They can be quite useful if you want to defeat this huge machine without too much life being take off of u! :)... (more pics to come soon!) There is one level in the game where you have to swim under water and difuse several bombs, and if you suceed then you proceed to the next level, but if you somehow manage to fail then it's game over for all turtles! It's quite simple to complete first time with quite a bit of spare time left if you are lucky! just make sure you cover all possible routes and don't miss any little gaps, and you will be fine! just simply swim into a set of bombs like in the pic shown above and then whichever turtle you are will quickly gather them all up destroying them.
I decided to take a pic of one area in the game where you can use this little trick that I found back over 10 years ago, which is a little sneaky plan to kill this first chainsaw dude before he even tries to attack you! it may take some skill to get right, and you will need to use Don with his long reach bo stick that he has! :) When playing the game and you get to this part, change to Don, (unless you are already him) and stand roughly half way inbetween the 2 pointing arrows above you. Then hit the attack button and you should see a flash if you hit him! simply repeat the process till he dies! once I found this little cheat out, I tried performing it on other bosses, but it only works on this one! so take advantage of it and you won't lose any life when you fight him! hee hee :)
PS: Every boss in this game has the same 8 block life bar as each turtle has! but for every time you hit a boss it will take exactly half a block off its life! so in total you will need to hit this chainsaw dude at least 16 times before he dies! bye...
Straight after the under water level you get to have the opportunity to drive a very cool invincible turtles truck which you can use to run over footsoldiers and various badguy trucks with ease! either run into them or let them run into you whilst you are stationary! either way, they still die! hee hee :)... To enter the truck, walk over to it and when on top of it, press the Enter key at the bottom right of the keyboard to jump in and take control! do not get the Enter key mixed up with the Return key as these both do different things in the game, and that the Return key is used for turtle selection, information on where you are and mission data all in one, and that only!
When in the sewers, prepare yourself to fight many footsoldiers, flying bees and robots amongst various other enemies in later levels of the game. There is a huge variety of bad guys in total. The main purpse of the turtle wagon is to fire rockets and break down barriers / road blocks that are laying in certain parts of the road, that stop you from accessing various parts of the game, of which some you will need to go to, in order to progress further in the game! first of all tho, u will need to collect these rockets from various buildings first as you start off with no ammo. At the start of this level, the nearest open building has a supply of them that will be useful. To use the rockets and other weapons, (if you happen to pick them up) press the space bar to scroll thru them at the bottom!
