Anne Rice--Queen of the Damned

The above pic was borrowed from Anne Rice's official website, which I will link to at the bottom of this page.

How do I love Anne, let me count the ways. . . .

First of all, the woman is GOD!! I think Anne Rice is, without a doubt, the one and only true authority on vampires. Now, as I mentioned earlier, I have a little fetish with vampires, and Anne's Vampire Chronicles is the most breathtaking look into not only their world, but their entire history.

To the people who have read my work and say I have a Rice-like style, thank you much--but there's no way in hell I could ever be compared to this woman.

The thing I love and appreciate the most about Anne Rice is how she incorporates all her knowledge about history and ancient eras into her works. The woman is completely accurate with her descriptions of historical times.

I'd have to say my favorite Anne Rice novels would have to be Queen of the Damned, for it's look into the entire history of vampires and her depiction of ancient Egypt, and Pandora, for whisking us away to the world of ancient Greece and one of the eldest and strongest vampires.

A little about me: I always hated history until I took Western Cultures in college. The main thing we studied that year was ancient Greece and Rome. As I mentioned on my Pike page, I have a fascination with Greek mythology and Greek history in general. To see the things I learned in that class brought so vividly to life on Rice's pages left me breathless.

Anne Rice has been an influence of mine for quite some time now. I started getting into her halfway through high school--which sadly seems far too long ago at this point in time. I was so moved by her works I wanted to share my passion for her with everyone. I even wrote a couple of book reviews on a few of her Chronicles for the school paper.

Perhaps one day when I'm feeling particularly motivated I'll add those and my review of Christopher Pike's Season of Passage somewhere on this site. Until then, just remember that patience is a virtue.

I'll leave this page as is and let you check out the official Anne Rice site for anything else you want to know about her and her upcoming projects and lifestyle.
