And now some old moments of Zen from August 2001...

    8/1/01

Today was a lazy rainy day. One of those days where you just have to lie around. And even if you work you must take frequent "cat naps" per se just to keep alive. But the tricky part is explaining that to your mom when she wants you to clean the whole house for your friend's weeklong visit. Yes, you err... read me! My dear friend and sanity/shrink, Lava is coming to town. She wasn't gonna come at first but than I cried and begged and she gave in... woohoo! Pity rocks! I'm not usually this pathetic just a little lonely down here in the sunshine state.

And Now For the Meanings of Popular Songs For Dummies...

Today I'm going to analyze the ever so popular song... in 1995 "What I Really Want" (or something like that) by the Spice Girls. What do you think of when you think of Spice Girls? What I personally think of is big hair... but if there would have to be a second choice it would be "girl power." So I think by analyzing this songs lyrics we'll get a little insight on what girls really want. I know being female, that our gender as a whole really doesn't know what we want. We're a whole stew of emotions going in no direction. But the key to what we want comes at the end of a jumbled up chorus... "All I wanna do is zigah zig ahh." It seems almost fitting that the key is some nonsense word. *chuckles* I don't even know if there was a point of this Moment of Zen... *shrugs*

I took a trip into West Palm Beach to pick up Lava from the airport today. Afterwards we perused the streets, site seeing all the gates to the famous houses. (The gates were pretty much all we could see even though they were bigger than my house.) After a quick lunch we took a stroll in the down town and saw two hobos bathing in the public fountain... damn sexy hobos but hobos none the less. They even had shampoo so I guess they are "upper-class" in the hobo society. Also we were tempted to see the main attraction in the local theater, "Menopause the Musical: The not so quiet passage anymore." Hey the critics said it was hilarious. *shrugs*

I received a beautiful mask made in Venice, Italy from Lava for my birthday. She's late but I won't make her sleep outside. It's really pretty and I wanted to wear it and surprise my brother when he opened the door. SO I rang the bell and hid. As he opened the door I jumped out shaking the bells on the mask. "Ohhh... Hey Sheila..." And he walks away. Well, that's a party pooper.

I went to the beach for the first time all summer, today. I guess that's not really true I did go. But the difference I was volunteering and working when I went the other times. This time I actually went on my own free will other than my friend Lavanya to help persuade. Anyway it seems when people live in Florida most just don't go to the beach even if they are close. I don't go even though I have the opportunity. Anyway I'm glad I did because I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Just another day at the beach.

I recently went through my old diaries. Wow it's an eye opener on how shallow/dorky I used to be. I mean I'm still dorky but not to that point. I never stuck long to diaries due to laziness and I'm not a creature of habit. I'm surprised I've lasted this long on this site, actually. Anywho it's nice to grow up and move on.

    And now for something silly...

Today I ate breakfast at Wendy's. My friend Lava being a vegetarian ordered the caesar salad since it was one of the only vegetarian things there. As she was eating she found something disgusting... artificial bacon bits. Now I'm sorry but I find that extremely silly to put number one bacon bits on a ceasar salad, but number two it makes it so if a vegetarian is on the run there is absolutely nothing fast on the Wendy's menu unless you count drinks. And I wouldn't be surprised if they snuck some meat into that too. My mom says it's to cater to meat eaters... but I don't think a meat eater won't have a caesar salad because it lacks small bits of artificial swine.

    8/8/01

It's hot and I spent the whole day in a stuffy car with 5 other hot people. And I'm not talking about looks. If I were I wouldn't probably have minded that much. I spent most of my time reading a romance book "supposedly" written by Fabio. But I don't even think he knows he wrote it. My mom picked it up on a whim/joke. I'm actually into it. I guess it's due to the fact I haven't had human contact with an attractive guy in about 2 months... My flirting gland is aching for some guy action. Oh well there will be plenty of time for that once I get up to the Great North. Anyway I'm at the point in the book when Lexi's ex-lover/twin brother of her newborn's dead father comes back to steal her heart... silly but so am I.

And now a special guest spot Moment of Zen written by Lava...

It seems like when it's my turn to do something, I run out of ideas. So I'd like to talk about something very near to my heart... Super Villain Impersonators. I hear you snickering out there, but this is no laughing matter! SVI is a terrible, debilitating mental disorder. My first encounter came in a penthouse of one of the wealthier socialites of Gotham city...(flashback sequence)

(Scene: penthouse in Gotham City. The Joker is piling jewels into a sack while his henchmen watch over three captives, bound hand and foot.)

Joker: A HA HA HA HA HA!
Wealthy socialite: You'll never get away with this, Joker! Batman will foil your evil scheme!
Joker: That's what you think! As we speak, Batman and Boy Wonder are being slowly tortured to death in my highly complicated super villianish device. HA HA HA HA HA!

(The Dynamic Duo enters the penthouse through the window.)

Batman: Think again, Joker!
Joker: One more step, Batman, and I will let loose my very hungry tigers on the captives.
Wealthy Socialite: Oh no! What will we do, Batman?
Batman: Don't panic, everyone. I think I have the answer. You see, there are no tigers here because this is not the real joker!
Robin: Holy Super Villain Impersonators, Batman!

Yes, it was an impersonator. after that I got a chance to... Hey! I didn't order any pizza. Wait, that's not a pizza, that's a straitjacket! Wait! You've got the wrong mmf mmf mfff mmfmmmff-

I'm sorry, but this feature has been canceled for today due to technical insanity.

"You suck" - my brother

    8/12/01

I wanted to explain my last Moment of Zen basically I had to run and had no time to write a full Zen thingy. So I asked my brother for a quote and he replied "You suck." And wahla a Moment of Zen was born.

Today is my day to decompress from all the hectic stuff that has been going on. Actually I spent most of today passed out in a leather-seated car during the heat of the day while my mom shopped. I have never sweated so much in my life... Lavanya left today. I had a really nice visit with her. I really appreciated having someone to talk to face to face that wasn't related to me. And trust me I really needed that...

And here are the results of the What should George Bush's nickname be? poll. Out of 54 respondents...

2% - Big Boy
20% - Curious George
7% - Stupid
4% - Yosemite Sam
24% - Dubya
43% - That guy that is ruining our country

I know the whole poll moot since his nickname pretty much is Dubya. But still I think the winning name has a certain ring to it. Here's an interesting piece of trivia. Did you know that Dubya has been on vacation the same number of days he's been in working and his month long vacation continues? Scary but true...

My friend Kelly is now visiting me. We went snorkeling today and I got really badly scratched on the reef trying to save someone. Needless to say it's a little painful to sit right now. I've been outside a lot lately. I'm sun-dried, sea-whipped, and ready to go home.

    8/31/01

So I took off a week or so and now I'm back. Not only am I back to my site but I'm also back home in Pittsburgh. Florida sucked but now it's all coo' cuz I'm back where I belong... until next summer. *sigh* The funny thing is I used to be all gung-ho about Florida and I absolutely loved it. But now that I have met really good friends (and the fact I have none in Fl) makes Fl just suck. All I did was sit around and wait for the trip back. Oh well, no use whining.
