RATING:     5 penguins out of 5 would enjoy this movie. The are all now officially Hed-Heads.

VIEWING EXPIERIENCE:     Ohh…. How should I begin this? I love this movie… a lot. Ask anybody that knows me I will rant about it to whoever will listen. I saw it just 2 weeks ago and already I’ve watched it at least 7 times, own the soundtrack, a copy of the video and the DVD. And my mom is just as crazy about it, she's the one that turned it on to me. It’s that good… But this movie could probably go both ways. Either you will hate it or love it. Number one you must have a mature head on your shoulders. This movie deals with a lot of issues that may make you feel uncomfortable, namely homosexuality and transexuality. I really don’t recommend watching this with your significant other. A few scenes may make you feel uncomfortable. Also it’s not a movie to be forced. You must watch it with an open mind. Hmm… well consider yourself warned.

But why did I like it? Well, this a very beautiful movie and once you get over silly weirdness over the content it touches you. Plus Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a musical. That helps it make it more intimate and just beautiful. The music is wonderful and will be stuck in your head for days. I watched this movie with a guy, that didn’t like it at all because of it’s content, but I still saw him taping his foot. Every song is unique and fully developed. The style of music ranges wildly from one song to the next. It goes from punk to country and then to rock. I love it sooo much…. Not to mention the wonderful lyrics. Actually the composer, Stephen Trask, (who also stares in the movie) is commissioned to write Madonna’s next CD. Ohhh… Delight! :)

This movie is very well done. All the actors are wonderful and the costumes and makeup is superb. This movie was nominated for best score at the Grammies, won best directing at the Indie Film Festival, and John Cameron Mitchell was nominated for best actor at the Emmys. Not that it matters but it’s nice to know that it got the attention that it deserved. Hedwig and the Angry Inch was actually first an Off-Broadway production that one much acclaim so it was brought to the big screen. I would love to see it live… *drools*

STORY SUMMARY:     Hedwig and the Angry Inch chronicles the life of Hedwig, (John Cameron Mitchell) a transvestite from communist East Germany. But instead of treating Hedwig as an oddity the movie gives you an intimate peak into his life through his own words. The movie is almost a monologue with Hedwig spilling his guts through song and word to audiences on his world tour. This movie isn’t too heavy, it’s also a light off-beat comedy. It’s a wonderful journey through Hedwig’s soul and is a study on love and self discovery. Makes me want to cry…

BEST QUOTE:     all of them CONCLUSION:     See it if you are ready for it.
