RATING:     5 penguins out of 5 would enjoy this movie.

VIEWING EXPIERIENCE:     I saw this movie with my mom and really enjoyed it. It’s not vulgar so it’s family safe. At the time I wasn’t in too good of a mood but the movie pretty much washed that away. The theater was bare due to the pretty much lack of publicity for this movie. Which is sad because it really is a wonderful movie. This would be good on small screen also. The surround sound really enhanced it though. The sound track is full of “ole timey” music. It’s very well done. A featured song is "I Am A Man of Constant Sorrows.” It kicks monkey.

STORY SUMMARY:     O Brother, Where Art Thou? is loosely based off The Odyssey. I thought it was really neat because you could catch the similarities. I always love when movies do that. Kind of like a special treat to those who are well read and recognize the literary references. Anyway 3 convicts escape from a chain gang. Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney) a well-spoken smart aleck, drags along Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and Pete (John Turrurro). Ulysses is the silver-tongued leader. I liked it how in a movie full of yokels there was at least one well spoken person. A good balance. As they search for “treasure” in Mississippi (1930s) they come across several outlandish characters. I won’t bore you with a description of every difficulty but several include the KKK, police, fire, own stupidity, George (Baby Face) Nelson, and an one-eyed preacher.

BEST QUOTES:     “We thought you were a TOAD!”

                                "I'm a Dapper Dan Man!"

CONCLUSION:     See it... now...
