VIEWING EXPIERIENCE:     I rented this movie. Most of the time I spent watching this flick I had to move my dog out of the way. ‘Twas quite annoying. Anyway I watched it with my friend Annie, my mom, Baba and Dido. They seemed to all like it. Not really enthusiastic about it but enjoyed it. Basically it was an all right movie but I couldn’t understand half the dialog due to the thick English accent. The actors were really good and dancing excellent. I liked the soundtrack, it comprised mostly of T-Rex songs like "Bang a Gong". The songs fit well with everything. The story was sad in parts. Part of the reason I did not enjoy it that much was because it successfully brought tears to my eyes. I find when I cry I start to hate the movie. For example: Perfect Storm. *shudders* Also at times it was so tense in the movie that it made me want to walk out of the room and once I did. It was one of those things where you know what will happen to the characters before they do.
STORY SUMMARY:     Billy Elliot takes place in 1984 in a small mining town in Northern England. A mining strike hits the Elliot family really hard. Everyone must make sacrifices especially since Mrs. Elliot is dead. The Elliot household consists of old fashioned Mr. Elliot (Gary Lewis), his elder son Tony and union agitator (Jamie Draven), a sick grandma (Jean Heywood), and 11 year old Billy (Jamie Bell.) Mr. Elliot battles with the past. Tony battles with the strike. And Billy battles tradition. Billy actually started out taking boxing lessons only later to find an interest in ballet. With help of his ballet teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson (Julie Walters) he strives for his dreams. He faces many struggles such as poverty, his father’s iron will, and the strike. On the way he finds himself, girls, and diversity. *gag* The movie isn’t as cheesy as it sounds.
BEST QUOTE:     "Go Billy!"
CONCLUSION:     See it if you like intense Dramas with lots of music and dancing.
