Interviews for May 2003
Tripside; Interview done by Dan
This Alternative Rock group first formed in September of 2000. They were originally hybrid funk band consisting of 4 people. As the group drifted only two remained, Ryan Siegel and George De Haven. Still being a hybrid funk group, these two appeared on a Redman album. Soon, they needed a bass player.Good friend and fellow musician, Mike Sadis joined in. As they started writing in 2001, soon they realized they had written new things, that they have ever written before. They decided to change their style to Rock and Roll. A fresh face of fans soon followed, showing how good the decision to switch styles was. While on the road, the band was writing end released a 3 song demo. They gained experience playing shows and writing and went into the studio in spring of 2002. What the result of the studio time was a magnificent album, "Tomorrow EP" This album had 6 songs, and to many people, masterpieces of young minds. A local radio station even helped them out, throwing them a release party at the Vanderbilt in Plainview. The fans supported it so much it got weekly play after debuting on "Tri-state sounds." Later they picked up Frankie Martinelli. In a review of Tri-state bands, Harlan Friedman put Tripside's album as number one, and says "At the age of 18, Tripside vocalist and guitarist Ryan Siegal possesses the maturity and song writing ability of artists 10 years his senior." This band still has long to go, but as for now his message to all his fans is "have fun, get laid, enjoy life...". Dan recently got the chance to interview Mike. Go and visit Tripsidemusic.com for more info on this wonderful band.

Chance of a Liftetime; Interview done by Dan
Hailing from Levittown NY, a suburb of sorts, are some great bands. Brand New is the recent craze but they better watch out because the new up-and-comers are Chance Of a Lifetime. This new band is gaining more and more popularity as days go by.They are Pop-rockers who this summer will be doing a full US tour, singing songs from their latest EP made in 2002. Though I have not heard the entire album I have listened to them on their MP3.com site and they will blow you away.I highly suggest listening to them, cause they are really cool guys. In fact Jon, the singer/guitarist, recently did an interview with me, so yeah, here:
1) What is your name and what do you do in the band?
Jon: Jon..I sing and play guitar.
2) Where are you from?
Jon: Levittown NY
3) What are your inspirations?
Jon: Well we all have been into music since like first grade. We are all into all types of music..but i know me and bob our bassist both look at the Band Dream Theater as a major influence.
4) How did you all meet?
Jon: We all went to the same high school....james and nick talked..and me and bob talked..me and bob were actually in another band together back in the day...
5) What song, by you guys, best describes the band?
Jon: A lot of the new stuff. Run Around in Circles..and Think Back to the Start.
6) How have crowds been at shows?
Jon: Pretty sick..the scene out here rocks...we are workin on touring alot now. So right now we are playin alot around here. We like to play only a couple shows locally a month though so everyone comes out to those couple dates.
7) What has changed about the band since the begining, if it has changed at all?
Jon: Well definetly the line up I used to just sing..and we had another bass player. Besides that we really try to write whatever comes out and whatever we feel..not takin to much time to make a song perfect.
8) What is the main goal of the band?
Jon: Well, like i said, we been doin this so long,so right now basically our goal is to continue adding to our touring experience, do as much work as we can by ourselves, then get picked up by a label run by great people, this summer we are planning to tour for a month.
9) Who writes most of the songs?
Jon: Umm..we all contribute our ideas, but I guess you can say that me and James write most of them James plays guitar as well.
10) Whats the best thing about being in a band?
Jon: Tryin to make a job out of what you do best and love the most and having people notice your talent all across the country.
11) How did you get the name?
Jon: Um..they came up with the name before I joined the band..i beleive the phrase is used in a get up kids song.
12) Do you see your band lasting a long time?
Jon: Yes definetly...we have been through it all, and I dont see anything breakin us apart
13) When is the next album due out?
Jon: Umm..well we are kinda broke, so we are gonna do a sampler type thing for tour. Some songs will be out in a couple days. Theres also a song on mp3.com right now it was written for a compilation.
14) What Kind of message do you want to send out to your fans?
Jon: Keep working hard...dont let anything get in your way and make friends with alot of people all over
15) What are you listening to right now?
