Sarasota is not the best place to skate, but we do have some good spots. I am starting to make an archive of the spots in Sarasota and the nearby towns. If you know of any spots please e-mail me.
~Sarasota High School(two 7 stairs, long 8,6,4 stairs, a five stair, some benches, a couple ledge, a nice 8 in the front but without alot of room, a outdoor cafeteria with some ledges, stairs, drop-offs, and some gaps.) ~Fruitville Elementary School(There are some little stairs, like 2,3,4, and maybe a 5, but the best thing to skate here is the low handicap rails which are the lowest I've found yet in Sarasota. There is also a stage and some picnic tables.) ~Wilkenson Elementary School(This school has a stage with two 4 stairs on each side, the stage can be used as a ledge, there are some really waxed picnic tables, some little gaps, and some metal bleachers that need to be waxed constantly to be able to slide.) ~Riverview High School(There are some nice ledges at this school but thats about it, one of the series of ledges is sometimes closed becuase of two ten foot high gates, which are jumpable, and there is another really waxed ledge but its kind of low, this ledge goes up a long but low 3 stair. And there are some benchs that are O.K.) ~Selby Library(This is one of the best spots but you get kicked out easily unless you go around 6:00 p.m. or later on sundays. There is a 3,5,6,7,and 8 stair here. The handrails are nice but the all have kinks at the bottom.(and they are capped now) There are also some big drop-off ledges right next to the stairs. The ledge there are nice except for the fact that they are covered with skate stoppers. This is a very nice spot, but make sure you skate it on sunday evenings and at night.) ~The Park Across From Selby Library(This is just a little park with some ledges and really that is it.) ~Along Bee Ridge Road, Walgreens to some medical places (This area has some ok stuff. At the walgreens there is a 3 stair, a ledge that needs to be waxed, and that about it at Walgreens. At the bank right next to it there are some gaps. Next to the bank there are two medical building, combined they have a ledge, some pretty nice gaps, but one of themm is always blocked by a white van, some little ledges, a "secret spot" and not too much else is there.) ~Marina Jack(This park has a 5 stair which is nice, and a little section that is pretty far into the park which has a HUGE 4 stair, and a 10 or 12 stair with a nice handrail but steep.) ~Hollywood 20(This is a movie theater and is has a 7 stair in the parking garage, and a long white ledge at the exit of the parking garage. Watch out for the rent-a-cop.) NEWS:the selby library rails have been capped so thats bad i guess...
