I think that my best friend, Marco, has influenced me the most. Me and him are so much alike. We listen to basically the same types of music, and we're always together. I feel most comfortable being myself around him. I am also influenced by Amy Lee of Evanessence. She doesn't like to buy clothes, she prefers to design them herself. She beleives that young girls shouldn't try to copy other celebrities, but be creative. I would say that I am like her, because I have my own style.

II.Stereotypes/Masks

1.[a]People think that because I dress a certain way, I listen to a certain type of music, or that I have a certain personality. But I am the opposite. For example, one of my friends thought I was joking when i told her I listen to rock music. She said I don't seem like the type. Most of my guy friends are surprised when they find out that I'm into cars and wrestling, because I'm a girl, and its not common for a girl to like that kind of stuff. I've also been told that I can't be half African, because I don't look it.
[b]It is a bit weird when people don't think I'd be the type to ever be interested in "guy stuff" or rock music, but I've gotten used to it.
2.[a]I don't know if I have tried any "masks"/"stereotypes" yet, but I do remember that I pretended to be a Mexican when i lived in Mexico. I was the only non-mexican in the school at the time and I felt sort of like an outsider. After a while though, two more Canadian families and an English family moved into the school, and I was happier.
[b]I learned to be happy with the way I am.

IV.Your unique gifts

2.My unique gifts are that I am okay being myself. I listen to any music I like. It doesn't bother me what others think of it. I don't do certain things or act certain ways to impress people. For example, last year, the "big thing" was SpongeBob Square Pants. While all the other girls watched it, I was watching something I actually liked, like the Simpsons.
