The Care Bears not only were a superb children’s show, it also was a metaphor for life. Think about it for a second. Each one of those bears represented something we often yearned for or have tried to do to improve our lives. They represent people in their purest form (well, not all people. I refuse to believe that there is some good in everybody because some people are downright nasty.) Think about it: Tenderheart Bear, Love-a-Lot Bear, Friend Bear… These are all things that we needed to feel complete. The Care Bears were probably the most important teachers of valuable lessons in the 80’s. Besides punk music, Billy Idol, Fat Albert, Fraggle Rock, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Jem and the Holograms, these lovable bears were the only reason why it was cool to grow up in the 80’s.

Take me for instance. My favorite Care Bear is Love-a-Lot Bear. And I like to be loved… a lot. I even found this picture of Love-a-Lot Bear baking. If that’s not a coincidence than I don’t know what is. I mean, my God, Love-a-Lot Bear even looks like me.
I, for one, wish that someone, anyone, would make an 80’s cartoon channel. 80’s cartoons taught us the meaning of sharing, caring, and Care Bear staring. The cartoons they have out now are pure and utter crap. They all have to do with teenagers growing up and little Chimpokomon spouting out Japanese profanities and passing it off as a cute little catch phrase.
Now kids, it’s time to get reacquainted with some old friends.
