My dad once told me a story about how he saw this guy walking away from a broken-down car back when he was young. The guy was black; knowing the area, my father knew there was little chance anyone would stop to help him out. So my dad stopped, gave him a ride to get some help, and the guy was extremely grateful and even surprised that he stopped to help him. He said he felt that people just didn't care enough, that's what he expected. Skip ahead a few years. My dad's truck got stuck in a mudhole back in the woods, and he was walking down the road to get some help. A car pulls up next to him to offer assistance, and ironically enough, it was the guy my dad helped a few years earlier. The guy told him that my dad's actions made him re-evaluate how he had been living and made him start to think less selfishly. From that point on he always tried to assist people, to offer help when someone needed it.
My point? I guess that's why I'm in this band, other than the fact that I can't play any instruments and I don't sing well enough to be in a danzig cover band. Some years ago, I picked up a handful of records, and they made me re-evaluate how I was living at the time and convinced me to change for the better. Now, all grown up (HA!), I find myself in the position to maybe help somebody else in the same way.

good: Joe R. Lansdale; Carcass; Sepultura; Gary Braunbeck; the new Neurosis record.

bad: research; excuses; the inability to EVER do ANYTHING on time.
