st elmo’s fire
the japanese lantern
on a
black sky
releases
acrid smoke
into humid air
seraphim in shadow
flit
slowly
beside yellow
orbs
of flame
illuminating the
shattered glass
flung
onto grass
impatiently
two drops
fall
from an
azalea branch
its fiery pink
flowers
languidly wilting
overhead
the flowers lament
in a swarm
of petals and
tear apart that
pride
which has lost
its wings
my
one-winged
angel….
