Raiders 40-12 Roosters
A large crowd of over 23,000 said goodbye to Laurie Daley, Brett Mullins, and David Furner today at Bruce stadium as the Raiders beat the Sydney Roosters 40-12. It was a great performance by Canberra and a perfect farewell from Bruce stadium. It didn't look too good for Canberra early on as they were trailing 8-0. But some McFadden magic turned the match around as a converted try set the trend for the Raiders. Mullins did some magic of his own to give them a 12-8 lead and a David Furner conversion put the Raiders ahead 14-8 at the break.
After half time, the Raiders looked awesome in attack in the second half. Jason Croker played a great game showing how good he really is as he scored two of the second half tries and made a number of breaks and plays that gave him the Man of the Match award. Mullins also showed off his brillance with two tries and setting up another with an amazing pass to Jason Croker to score under the posts. His performance today showed how much Canberra will miss him. David Furner also had a good match making a few breaks and Daley also was playing like old running to the line many times a took on the defence as well.
Towards the end of the match, the rain came down but it didn't dampen the Raiders spirits as the Volcano scored on the bell. It was an amazing day for the Raiders and the fans. With the after match celebrations, a gaint rainbow filled the sky to mark a magical evening.
Goodbye Laurie Daley, Brett Mullins and David Furner from a fan.

The State of Origin teams were named yesterday and there were a few surprises. Winger Eric Grothe Jr. was named for NSW on the wing. He was quite surprised that he was selected. For Queensland, there were a couple of surprises with the selection of a few North Queensland Coyboys named in the squad. Bowman and Bawden will make their Origin debut for Queensland. David Furner was named on the bench for NSW which will be his first game for them for the first Origin in the series. The surprise was that none of the Johns brothers were named.
The teams are:
NSW
Ross, MacDougall, Girdler, Timmins, Grothe, Fittler, Kimmorley, S.Hill, Fletcher, Kennedy, Howe, Toovey, Kearns Reserves: T.Hill, Furner, Vella, Stevens
QLD
Lockyer, Rogers, Bowman, D.Smith, Sailor, Ikin, Lam, J.Smith, Thorn, Tallis, Lang, Heatherington, Webcke Reserves: Green, Carrol, Bawden, Price
(20/3/00) Canberra Raiders fullback and former Test player Brett Mullins was fined $25,000 and was banned from playing in first grade for up to four weeks depending on his behaviour in training. Mullins made an emotional apology in a press conference yesterday to Mark Mclinden and his team mates.
The incident occurred on Sunday during the Raiders loss to Parramatta at Bruce stadium.
There was a mix up between the players. Mullins then went up to Mclinden, told him off,
and then pushed him. He then was taken off for 5 minutes to calm him down a bit. It is
said that this incident will jeopardise
his chances for Origin selection. It is also said that
Robbie O'Davis was the selectors pick for the fullback position and Mullins might be
picked for the wing or a bench place. If reports are right then they are making a big
mistake because Mullins is the better fullback.

(20/3/00) Seven players from Auckland and the Queensland Cowboys face the judicatory tonight in relation to the ugly brawl in which two Cheergirls were injured. Nobody knows what will happen to them but all that is known is that there will be suspensions handed out.
The incident occurred when a big fight broke out on the sidelines when two players landed on the cheergirls who were sitting two metres away from the sidelines. Players ran in from all directions and police on the sidelines helped to try break up the fight.
The Cowboys defence is that the cheergirls didn't get hurt when they were fighting but got hurt when the players landed on them before the fight broke out.

(20/3/00) The test team was

picked. The player who was named instead of him was Chris McKenna.

Wings: Mat Rogers, Wendell Sailor
Centres: Ryan Girdler, Shaun Timmins

On Friday night, Australia ran over the Kiwi's in the Anzac Test. Australia won 52-0. It broke the record margin which was 44-0.
Another record that was broken was the most test points scored in a match. Mat Rogers broke that record by four points with two tries and all but one conversion attempt.
