Hello everybody and welcome to my site.
I am a sky blue Dominant Pied, at least that's what my mom says. Mom picked me out of the bunch because she had never seen a budgie with markings like mine.
My mom bought me on April 22, 2001. She had originally gone into the pet shop ready to buy a male, but once she saw my beautiful blue and white markings and my playful behavoir, she knew I was the one she wanted. For a while she didn't know if I was a girl or a boy, but someone posted a link on a helpful message board and she was sure I was a girl.
I am a quick learner. I learned how to step up in 1 day. My mom used to let me fly around the room because I was relatively easy to get back into the cage. BUT, one day I accidentally ran into a wall and my moms little 10 gallon fish tank just happened to be against this particular wall. Before I knew it, I was trying my best to swim! Luckily my mom doesnt let me fly without watching my every move and she grabbed me out of there fast!
Before I knew it that fish tank had a cover on it and my wings had been clipped! I wasn't very happy about this, but I guess it is better than swimming with the fishes.
My mom goes to school everyday and I think she was getting worried that I was lonely. She had to go on a vacation to Florida in June, but when she came back she brought something new with her. It was a friend for me! I could hear it in the other room and I was going crazy. My mom got very worried that I was going to hurt myself in my cage becuase I was so very excited. She moved this new friend of mine into the same room with me and it came in with a nice big new cage. I wouldn't stop going crazy, I wanted to see this new bird up close and personal. My mom knew she shouldn't have put us together so soon, but I think she was worried about me, acting so crazy and all. I was very curious about this new one. It turns out he was a boy! My mom named him Azizi, which would have been my name if I had been a boy. I was in love with him the first time I saw him, but alas, he didn't want anything to do with me. He has learned that I am a very good preener and I also help him out when he has food stuck to his beak. I think he has learned to like me :)
My mom has also adopted a cockatiel named Lanny. He is soooo loud! Azizi is learning how to mock his squocks, it is so funny!
I finished my first molt in early september and my mom says I look just beautiful. She also says my attitude has changed a lot, not that it is a bad thing. I just don't like playing around so much anymore, I'd rather have Azizi stay in the cage with me all the time so he can preen and feed me. Is that such a hard thing to ask?!? My cere finally turned tan and my mom made a big deal of it. She keeps calling me her big girl. I, personally, don't understand what the big deal is.
Azizi started his first molt in early september. He is making us ALL sneeze. There are feathers all over the place!
Mom also got a new budgie in early September (I think it was her birthday present to herself, hehe). It's completely white, but no red eyes. Mom calls it Addi, but she doesn't know if this new one is a girl or a boy, it changes for her every other day! I know its gender..... but I'm not telling ;)
I have decided that I dont like this new bird. She stole Azizi away from me!!!! Mom put me in a cage by myself because Azizi and Addi decided they liked each other a lot. Now, whenever I try to go be with Azizi and Addi, Azizi will chase me away. If they are happy together then I guess I will just let them be...
