Chapter 1

A/N So there’s not enough Pretear Yaoi out there(at least that I can find) so I’m doing my own. Ha! I’ve seen the whole series and read all the manga, but that was a looong time ago, so this will be a little Au and probably OOC. The terms for the Pretear weapons and spells are mostly made up, because I can’t clearly remember their proper names.

"Himeno! Behind you!" Himeno heard Go’s yell, turning around to face the demon larva that was coming for them. Using both hers and Go’s combined power she sent a wave of fire at the demon, grinning when she heard it’s agonized shrieks.

"Do you see the core?"

Himeno focused, breathing in and out, looking at the demon as the fire cleared. She silently cheered, seeing the core right under what looked like the demon’s mouth.

"I see it!" Himeno put her hands together, her eyes facing the sky, "fire sword," she yelled, grasping the sword tightly when it appeared in her hands. Letting out a battle cry, she charged the demon, stabbing him in his core. As it was dying, a tentacle whipped out hitting Himeno hard in the chest sending her flying back. She landed hard on the ground, her chest heaving in and out. A bright white light blinded her as Go’s hold lessened and he could no longer use his powers.

Himeno turned her head to the side, looking at a bruised and battered Go, her face showing her fear for the teen’s health.

"Go?" She questioned. "You okay?"

Slowly Go turned his head to look at Himeno. He saw the worry that was written all over her features, "I’ve had worse," he grunted out. "I’ll be okay."

"Good. At least we got the larva." Himeno set up, helping Go sit up as well. She frowned, still not used to the idea of her nights getting hurt when she herself went unscathed.

"Yes, we did, didn’t we? And we didn’t even need that angstleeches help."

Himeno started to laugh, "where’d you get that term?"

Shrugging, Go smiled, "read it somewhere. It does fit him though, right?"

"Well it did fit him, but he’s changed a bit," Himeno said, slowly standing up, offering a hand to Go.

"Yeah, and whose fault is that?" Go asked, gratefully taking Himeno’s hand. Once he was standing on his own two feet, he let out a painful moan, causing Himeno to frown.

"Not mine," Himeno said, going to Go’s side, looking him over. "You’re not really alright, are you?"

"Oh, Himeno you’ve changed us all. Kei’s not so self-centered anymore, Mannen’s not too much of a brat anymore and Sasame’s not so . . . " Go paused, "well, he’s different, but I can’t put my finger on what’s different about him."

"And the others?"

"Uh . . . Hajime is not so much a whiner anymore, and Shin . . . well Shin’s still Shin."

Himeno smiled, "Sasame is different, but you’re right, I can’t tell what’s different either."

Taking Go’s hand, Himeno helped him to walk, seeing just how weak he was. Go smiled, grateful for the help, his hands on his stomach, where he realized was bleeding rather badly.

Himeno noticed this and started to freak out, "oh no! Go, I didn’t know . . . ahh, ummm." Himeno moved Go’s shirt so she could get a better look at the wound. "Eww, gross."

"Oh, well that makes me feel wonderful," Go muttered.

"I don’t like blood," Himeno said, shivering.

"That’s ironic with the line of work you’re in."

"True, but I wouldn’t change anything. I love helping people."

"You’re too sweet Himeno. Too bad you’re not sweet enough to return Hayate’s feelings for you."

Himeno looked up at Go with a frown on her face, "I really like him, just . . . "

"No need to explain."

"Yeah . . . but good news," Himeno said with a cheerful smile, "Hayate has another crush on someone and it’s not me." Himeno giggled, "I overheard him. He was talking about how some white haired person was beautiful."

Go looked at Himeno with a blank look on his face, "do we even know any white haired people?"

"Sasame and Mannen only." Himeno said, "maybe he likes someone at my school; like the old nurse," Himeno joked, "Anyways, I’m going to be nosy and try to figure out which girl he likes and then." Himeno grinned, "I can set them up."

"Ooh, can I help?" Go asked, with a smirk, "there’s so many things we can do. Like lock them in a closet."

"Go we’re not in the third grade." Himeno smiled, shaking her head, "come on, lets get to the manner and get you fixed up."

Nodding, Go leaned onto Himeno. Himeno didn’t seem to mind, after all she knew Go was almost out of strength. The two luckily were not far from the manner. Himeno had gone for a walk when she had been attacked by the larva. She yelled out and as luck would have it, Go was near enough to hear her.

When they reached the Awayuki manner, Go turned to Himeno, "hey, I was thinking; doesn’t Yayoi have white hair now? She had that dyeing accident."

Himeno slapped her head. How could she be so stupid to forget about her own best friend? It was true, Yayoi had been trying to give herself highlights, but it resulted in her dyeing her hair platinum. "Yeah, but . . . Hayate and Yayoi . . . for some reason, I just can’t see him liking her."

"Who likes who?" a feminine voice asked. A loud gasp could be heard seconds later. Himeno and Go looked up to see a shocked Kei running toward them.

"Go, what happened, you’re hurt?" Kei started to raise up Go’s shirt, getting a squeak of surprise from Go, who was also blushing.

Himeno smiled, Kei really had changed, there had been a time when all he cared about was himself.

"I...I’m fine," Go stuttered, shooing Kei’s hand, that were moving over Go’s bruised stomach.

Kei pulled away from Go, looking at Himeno, then back to Go, "what happened?"

"A demon larva," Himeno explained. "It caught me by surprise and luckily Go was near enough to help me."

"It wacked Himeno with its tentacle as it died," Go said, "that’s the reason for most of my injuries."

"Well we must get you cleaned up at once," Kei said, grabbing Go’s hand, and pulling him toward the house. Once again, a squeak of surprise came from Go, and a fiercer blush grazed his features. Himeno followed the two with an amused look on her face.

"That’s mine!"

"No it’s mine, you cry baby."

"Guys, guys, stop fighting."

"STAY OUT OF THIS SHIN!"

"I just want to help."

Sasame groaned looking over at the three youngest knights. It seemed Mannen and Hajime were fighting again and poor little Shin was caught in the middle trying to calm them down.

"Will you three hush?" Sasame yelled, "I can’t hear myself think?"

Mannen looked at Sasame, a crossed look on his face, "what’s crawled up your butt?"

For some reason that comment made the platinum haired choke, his face flushing. Shin looked at Sasame worried. He walked over to the light-haired teen, reaching up as far as he could, patting him on the back.

Hayate walked into the room, taking in the scene. Hajime was pouting in a corner; Mannen was glaring at Sasame; Sasame looked like he was having trouble breathing and Shin was patting him on the back.

"What’s going on?" He asked, shooting a look at Mannen, clearly insinuating that he was the cause of all this.

"Sasame is choking because Mannen asked what crawled up is butt," Hajime honestly answered. "What could really crawl up someone’s butt? Wouldn’t that be hard?"

Mannen started to snicker; Shin looked confused and Sasame groaned.

"Seriously?" Hayate looked at the shy night, who was clearly embarrassed for some reason. "That’s why you look like you’re about to die from lack of air?"

Sasame looked at Hayate his face flushing more, "we’re not having this conversation." He stated. Sasame ran past Mannen, bopping him on the head, heading out the door.

Mannen grumbled, rubbing his head. "No, seriously what has crawled up his butt?"

"Nobody answered my question, wouldn’t it be hard for something to crawl up your butt?"

Everyone, even Shin looked at Hajime. Seconds later everyone was laughing, making poor Hajime pout.

"What did I say?"
