Lessons

Harry eyed Ron for the millionth time that day. The boy had been acting all gloomy today. Ron glanced up and caught the dark-haired youth staring at him, and weakly smiled. Harry frowned. Something was seriously up with the redhead.

Harry slowly stood up from his bed, and made his way to Ron’s. "Hey," Harry set down next to Ron and touched the boy on the shoulder. "What’s wrong?"

Ron flinched, startled, "oh, Harry." He smiled, "it’s nothing, really."

Harry put his hands on his hips, "Ronald Weasley, don’t you dare lie to me." It was a good impression of Hermione, and Ron’s face split into a real smile.

"Haha," Ron laughed. "Okay maybe I’m lying." His shoulders slumped, "but I can’t tell you what’s wrong."

Harry frowned, "why? Were best friends," Harry found himself hugging Ron, "you can tell me anything."

Ron blushed, "uh, Harry."

"Hmm, what?"

"You’re hugging me."

Harry blinked. "Oh," he leaned back. "Sorry, you looked like you needed one."

Ron smiled, "uh, thanks."

"Sure. Now please tell me what’s wrong."

Ron shook his head, "I . . . I can’t."

"Why?"

Ron blushed, "it’s too embarrassing."

Harry smirked, "now what can be too embarrassing, you can’t tell your best friend?"

Ron’s blush grew, and Harry raised his eyebrow. "Um," now his ears were turning red. "I CAN’T KISS," Ron yelled! He slapped his head, "okay. I’m gonna go die now."

Harry was silently laughing, "is that all?"

"ALL," Ron yelled. "I’ll never have a girlfriend! Cause I can’t kiss worth a lick." He shrugged his shoulders, "whatever that means."

"Why are you thinking about it all of a sudden?" Harry asked.

"Cause," Ron looked down, "some Slytherin where teasing me, about not having a girlfriend."

Harry frowned, "they need to mind their own business. I’m sure you’ll be a good kisser," Harry blushed. "And you can’t just know how to kiss, before you ever actually kiss."

Ron sighed, "yeah, yeah I know."

"Maybe you can get someone to practice with." Harry tried to think of a person Ron could practice with. "Um, Hermione, maybe."

Ron made a face, "ahh, I can’t do that."

Harry was confused, "but I thought you had a crush on her."

Ron blinked, "huh. No, I don’t. Kissing her would be like kissing Ginny. So wrong."

"Hmm, then who?"

Ron shrugged.

"Luna," Harry suggested.

"NO," Ron shook his head.

"Um, Parvati."

Ron snorted, "no way."

"Lavender?"

"Eww, no."

"Susan . . . that Hufflepuff girl?"

"No, I don’t even know her properly enough to kiss her."

"Cho?"

"No . . . and I thought you liked her."

"Not really . . . how about Padma?"

"No, if I didn’t want to kiss Parvati, what would make you think I’d want to kiss Padma."

"Angelina?"

"Ahh no, Fred would kill me."

"Pansy?" Harry teased.

"If I asked her, she’d probably kill me. So I’m gonna say no!"

"Cho’s friend, I forget her name?"

"The snitch. Um no."

Harry sighed, "Ron, we’re running out of people."

"Yeah, but I don’t feel like kissing any of those girls."

"Is there someone you like?"

Ron shook his head no, "not really, but I really want a girlfriend. And since I can’t kiss, I can pretty much rule out any possible girl."

"Well, we’ve pretty much ruled out all the girls who would possibly be willing to practice kissing." Harry said. "I’m the only possible person left," Harry teased.

Ron blushed, "okay."

Harry’s mouth fell open, "what?"

"Let’s practice."

Harry gulped, "you’re serious?"

"What . . . but you said . . . "

Harry smiled, Ron was so innocent, "yeah, I know." I was just teasing. I didn’t think you’d take me seriously

"So we can practice?"

"I..." Harry blushed, "okay," he whispered.

Ron gulped, "have you kissed someone before?"

Harry shook his head, "no. So this will be a learning experience for me as well."

"Oh." Ron scooted closer to Harry. "Um," he looked down. "Are you ready?"

Harry was very ready, of course he couldn’t tell Ron how ready he was, or he’d scare the boy. The truth was, Harry had always liked to tall redhead.

He reached out and raised Ron’s chin, so he could look him in the eye, "uh huh," he nodded.

Harry leaned forward and touched his lips on Ron’s. It was a quick chaste kiss, but both boys enjoyed it.

Harry blushed and looked at Ron, "how was that?"

Ron smiled, "it was nice. But it didn’t seem like the kinda kiss boyfriends and girlfriends do."

Harry laughed, "I guess you’re right. So you want to . . . really kiss?"

"Yes!" Ron blushed. "I mean, if you don’t care." He looked at Harry, his heart pounding. Why is my heart beating like that? Could it be . . . no it can’t? I’m not feeling attracted to my best friend . . . who’s a GUY! I’m not! Just a little embarrassed cause of the situation.

Harry gulped. "I don’t mind." He looked at the sleeping figures of Dean, Seamus and Neville. "But this ain’t the right time."

Ron turned beet red. He had completely forgotten the other boys were in the room with them. He hit his head, "you’re right. All we need is Seamus to see us. The whole school would know in mere seconds."

Harry grinned, "so, tomorrow then?"

Ron nodded, "uh huh. Defiantly."

Harry paced back and forth, his whole body racked with nerves. What if he chickens out and doesn’t come. Harry was waiting for Ron in their empty dorm room. They had agreed the night before to meet when their roommates would be visiting Hogsmead. Hermione had gave the two questioning looks when they had told her they were staying behind, but nobody else questioned why they weren’t coming.

Harry looked up when he heard someone entering the room. He smiled when he saw that it was a nervous Ron.

"Hey mate," Ron smiled faintly, walking over to Harry.

"Hey," Harry walked over to his bed and set down. Ron, who was shaking, walked over to Harry’s bed and set next to him.

"So now what?" Ron asked, his voice unsure.

"Do you still want to?" Harry asked, hearing the unsureness in Ron’s voice.

"I want to...but Harry, you really don’t mind? Wouldn’t you rather be kissing, oh I don’t know Ginny or someone."

Harry made a face, "Ron, Ginny is nice and all, and I do like her, but not like that. What, does she still like me?"

Ron shook his head, "no, I don’t think so. So you don’t mind kissing me?"

"I don’t mind; not at all." Harry smiled at Ron, moving closer to the boy. "You’re probably a better kisser then Ginny anyway."

Ron blushed, "Harry...are...you...flirting with me?"

"If I said yes, would you hit me...or hate me?"

Ron couldn’t believe his ears. His best mate was almost confessing to flirting with him. Ron looked at Harry and could see that the teen was really nervous. Ron wondered; did he have a problem with another guy flirting with him; liking him?

That kiss. I really enjoyed it; maybe a little too much. Does that mean...do I like Harry?

Ron smiled. Now he understood, why he was so quick to agree to kissing lessons with Harry. I must be honest with myself. The idea of me and Harry together makes my heart race.

Harry was worried, Ron had been quiet for a long time. "Ron?"

Ron jumped. "Oh sorry, Harry. I was thinking. I wouldn’t hit you and I could never hate you."

"Really?" Harry said, sounding hopeful.

"Yeah. Say Harry, if you were flirting with me, does that mean...you like me?"

"Uh huh, Ron, I do...like you."

Ron looked up at Harry, his eyes wide. He hadn’t expected for Harry to outright admit it. "Seriously?"

"Yes! I like you more then life itself. I’d do anything for you," Harry said, with such passion in his voice.

Ron felt himself burst with pure happiness. "You do...you would? Then can you do one thing for me?"

"Yes, anything you want."

"Teach me how to kiss for real."

Harry was surprised. "You still want to practice?"

"Of course. Don’t you get it? I think...well...I think...I like you too."

Ron gasped in surprise when Harry glomped him hard, hugging him tight. Feeling wetness on his cheek, Ron pulled away from Harry. "Are you crying?"

Harry blushed, wiping at his wet cheeks. "I guess so. I’m so happy."

"Me too."

Both teens gazed into each others eyes, slowly getting closer together, till they met in a sweet kiss. It was different now. Since Harry knew how Ron felt, he was being bolder. He kissed Ron deeply, seeking entrance to his mouth. Ron readily granted him that, by parting his lips. Tongues fought for dominance, neither one wanting to lose. When breathing became a problem they pulled away with a audible ‘pop’

"How was that?" Harry asked with a grin.

Ron laughed, "much better."

"Good." Harry stood up, taking Ron by the hand, "Ron we still have time. Would you like to be my date, and go to Hogsmead?"

"That sounds wonderful," Ron said.

With another quick kiss, they walked out of the dorm room and headed downstairs to the common room. Both smiled, thinking of all the wonderful possibilities that lay ahead of them.
