Burglars hit cell phone shop for $6.5M
Despite the heightened security presence in Georgetown, burglars still managed to make off with approximately $6.5 million worth of goods yesterday morning from TECHMEDIA.COM, a popular cell phone store located at Lot 65 King Street.

 

The store which was broken into during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Staffers of the establishment said that, when they arrived, the entire store was in disarray from the aftermath of the robbery.
It was reported that goods totalling some $6.5 million were removed from the store by the bandits.

All of the mobile phones in the shop’s display, along with a quantity of watches, cameras and amplifiers, had been taken.

   


Employees of the cell phone store explained that persons from the area had called at approximately 02:00 hours yesterday to report that persons were breaking into the establishment.
Additional phone calls were made to the Brickdam Police Station, reporting the robbery, but when Kaieteur News visited the scene of the crime, at approximately noon yesterday, police ranks had reportedly not yet made an appearance.
