Books what i do when i aint online

Discworld The series of sci-fi / fantasy novels by Terry Pratchett. I was first introduced to TP when i was at a grand age of fourteen by my english teacher... I was a teachers pet ;o)

The series is based on the Discworld, a planet which is a flat disc shape, supported on the back of four elephants who are in turn standing on a turle, called A'Tuin. My fave classic characters from the series, are Nanny Ogg, Rincewind and ofcourse, Death. Of the newer characters, I quite like Agnis Perdita X Nitt and Cpt. Carrot (with whom I am secretly inlove with). I can go on about Discworld for ever and a day.... but i will spare your bored and tired eyes :o)

Austen I know, Im sad. Im cumming out to the internet as an Austen fan. I like the world that our Jane writes about. The characterisations are wicked (now there is a literary term if ever i saw one :oP).

I first read Mansfield Park at skool, as part of GSCE English, and although im absolutely crap at English itself, I loved the book. Since then I have read Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice (oh Mister Darcy :oP ), Sense and Sensibility.. I think thats all. And any Ive forgotten to list arent worth mentioning!

Dickens A kinda depressing, kinda funny, quite cool author imo. Once again I first read Dickens as part of English at skool, but this time as part of the yr 9 SAT. And ofcourse, it was A Christmas Carrol - which i thought was a scarey book, all these ghosts popping up!! After that, I read David Copperfield followed up with Great Expectations. Surprisingly, to many people, Ive not read Oliver, nor seen it, and is on my list of books to read. My fave Dikens' novel is Great Expectations, I was rivetted to it for weeks, one of the best plots Ive ever had the pleasure to read.

Current Reads

Right now? Im reading Catcher In The Rye by J D Salinger, probably the first american novel Ive read. I indentify quite a lot with the main character Holden - which is slightly worrying :oP Im only on the third chapter, so cant comment too much on the plot or main characters yet. But dont you worry, I will say more when Im done reading, coz I know u care ;o)

The other book I am reading is Maskerade ( Pratchett). Im 3/4 of my way through it. I think its quite an okay book - not in the realms of Colour of Magic or Mort though. Ive found it slightly predicatable.

17th March: Its been a while since Ive updated this page, and since I last did so, Ive managed to finish off Catcher in the Rye - which is a very fab book.. Although I did say that I identified with Holden, reading the rest of the book, I figured that this wasnt exactly true - more precisely, there are aspects in Holden's character that I identify with, but not Holden as a whole - if that makes any sense :/

Also, Ive read another Discworld novel, this time, Witches Abroad. I was pleasantly surprised by this one - from the dissapointment of Maskerade Witches Abroad was a breath of fresh air - very TP, very funny, very cool. Im still looking for someone to buy me The Truth *hint hint* >:)
