175th anniversary of the arrival of East Indians in Guyana

Somwaria (Mahidan) expired October 15, 1929, eleven days after the birth of my father, Mohamed Ashin.

I have also been working on a B.R. list, I can confirm that B.R. does indeed mean Birth Register, a Register was kept of all the first Guyana born Indians for each year.

Your Grandmother Somwaria was born in Guyana in 1902 and her B.R. number was 850, I haven't got onto the next stage yet but I am assuming that there are Registers at the G.P.O./Archives in Guyana for 1902 that should contain both her and her Parent's details.
