A week later I found myself on a houseboat in Arizona on Lake Powell. The setting was indeed quite tranquil but it lacked something.
"Isn’t this wonderful?" – Shonna
"Yea, just great."
"You need to loosen up a bit, you know. Do a jungle call." – Shonna
"Umm, no that’s ok." There was a long pause.
"How is he going to prove to you that he’s grown up? You’re sitting here wishing that he’s going to show up on a silver boat and take you away. You don’t realize how hard you’ve made it for him to solve this problem that you’ve given him to. I understand where you’re coming from and what you want out of this relationship but cut the poor boy some slack." – Shonna
I didn’t know how to respond, so I didn’t. She was right, and I knew it. But I expected more of Taylor. If he was going to be the perfect one for me there was no way I was going to allow things to go the way they were. I sat there silently and stared out at the water.
