Juuman’okudo (Eternity)
Darkness looms over the saddened form. He lay there in bed, the speckled rays of light passing his germanic shutters from the wondow casting further enraptured and entwined shadows through the room. His eyes carelessly remain focused on the kanji set into the ceiling of his bed Juuman'okudo, 'eternity.' His mind registered the cold ideals that this echoed upon him, though he recognzed and admitted it, he barely ever spoke of it to anyone else.
He slid the covers from his form and slowly got up, his muscles ached from the previous nights dream, he just now realizing it wasn't midnight when the dream occured, he'd just barely gotten home from ATAI's first field test. So surreal was it that he still felt ebbing stings from the slit he felt as well as the badgering pain of the jab. He shook these of as best he could and stumbled to the bathroom, where he struggled to break free from the threshold of being half awake and regain in his mind, full consciousness... away from the tidings of the nightmares which haunted him night after night. "Does Akito suffer the same... of course not, he'd bask in this."
A quiet chuckle passed his lips as he turned on the water. He glanced down at it and slipped his hands into the cold stream which poured from the faucet, his hands shivering for a moment as he splashed the remnants of the sweet substance over his face. Then again he did it and opened his eyes... horror struck him as he look intot he mirror. His face bathed in blood, he looked down only to see the gushing blood from the sink, he trembled for a moment and looked back tot he mirror, the flash... he shook his head in disbelief and the flash again, this time accompanied by that which brought him to his fate in his dream. The beautiful figure clad in a guyvers encasings. He blinked again and it was gone... as was the scene he fell victim to.
"In my conscious now too? Is there no escape?"
He brought his hands to his face and wiped it several times, then allowed the mere scene to fade from his mind. He moved along with the faint chores of the morning, bathing... brushing his teeth and the ritualistic mood of breakfast. It felt like he had become an automaton, the same routine day after day. Though he chuckled half heartedly at the realization and fetched himself a thermos of coffee and relinquished himself to control of over the toils of the morn for the moment in favor of going to the office. Making his normal stop to pick up a donut from the 7-11 nearby.
He passed into the place and picked up a decent sized eclair, his timely favorite; though even this had changed recently. He placed it on the counter, the visual and audio assault of Cali-corps appearance at the object catching his attention as he dropped the dollar on the table, the blonde clerk who seemed to be there every morning gladly taking it and remarking on behalf of the appearance: "It's live... I still can't believe what's going on."
"I see, perhaps this calls for much deeper contact. I wish to find out what this is all about."
He turned quietly and enterred the cold confines of his sedan, looking about it quietly and then starting it up and pulling out onto the road. His cell phone rang and he immediately hit the talk button on the car harness as he slid the earpiece into his ear.
"Yes?"
"Ahhh hello Akito. No sir, I've just awoken. Is there anything that concerns you that couldn't wait untill I returned?"
"I see, how did ATAI fare?"
"That's dissapointing, did it register the EVA and record what it could. It did, excellent. I'll get to work on the modifications and examining the data ASAP."
HE hung up the phone and pressed on, the blurring scenery of the wooded land bringing him an odd peace. His nerves were shattered moments later as he felt a familiar presence, then a birght flare from the backseat caught his attention within the rear view. Again it appeared, sitting center in the car... the guyver. He wanted to scream but just blinked and opened his eyes... the figure was gone... and then. CRASH.
Crimson staining flowed from his chest, a faint pain emitting from his limbs as he struggled to move. Only slow minute movements allowed from his form as he bashed his way out the door. His eyes glanced over as he fell from the vehicle and looked "God damned tree's!" The sedan lay crumpled against the tree. The blood pouring from him slowly stopping as the world spun, then accompanied by faint whispers... turning to quickly to convwersation then screams. Followed by darkness. He lay there in pain... mixed with unknowing, would this be his last moments, his eyes opened and before him where the car had slid back from the mere reverberation of the impact he saw it... Juuman'okudo, "eternity."
