Campers

The sounds of the forest night, crickets playing, branches rustling, sounds one cannot define in the darkness of the of this unknown landscape.

"Well now, gather round the campfire kids, its time for counselor Bob to tell you all a little story."

Kids with little hats and uniforms gather from all directions, some seemingly tired, or bored to the brink of insanity, others with smiling cheerful faces, letting out small "yay's!!" as they run to the wooden benches made round the campfire. Logs places upon rocks for support, in a circle round the burning campfire. Some kids already there, roasting some hot dogs. Some other kids, with little trained hands fumbling with their scout knives to make a spear for the campfire roasting.

"Well now, after the departure of your last counselor, counselor Ted, may he rest in peace the poor guy, I have been assigned to you guys. Well you all know I'm as new to the counseloring and I really wanna do a good job."

One little girl, with a blue skirt, and a gray shirt, like all the other little girls in the Bluebirds Scout group smiles sweetly and saying, fairly loudly.

"I like you Counselor Bob."

smiling innocently she look at him with her blue eyes flirting like, stretching her folded arms along her skirt as she slightly giggles. The other girls giggling, and the boys starting to whisper with slight laughter in between.

Counselor Bob smiles warmly, nodding to the girl before he goes on.

"Well if there's something you wanna talk about, or something Ted did differently, please come and tell me little Bluebirds."

Most of the kids nods, some boys start tormenting another for a while, pushing him off the log they where sitting on, though a playful cheerful tone was over it, the fallen one giggling as he thud against the soft grass. Getting up he laughs pounce tackling the one who pushed him over in a slight tickle war.

"Now settle down kids, its now time for counselor Bob to tell you a really scaaary stooory."

A roam of ooh's and shh's goes over the kids, some laughing, others snorting in boredom. One of the boys raising his voice in a challenging spite.

"I'm not afraid of anything!!"

Counselor Bob looks at him in a cheerful tone, taking forth his guitar with a plonk to the strings, shrugging of the kids little attempt to bring off his mood. The boy soon settles with a displeased frown, though sits silently by the flickering campfire.

Bob starts fiddling with the guitar before trailing his fingers over the cords, starting to play a little tune, all in the classic campfire spirit, the indefinable tunes you hear over and over, but never really can place anywhere as anything, floating in all its annoyance through the forest silence. After a while of seemingly deep thought Bob smiles up stopping the playing on his wooden guitar.

"The story, is about a bloodsucking monster who lived all alone, in a wood, just like this ...ooooooh scary huh."

Some of the kids nods convincingly, eyes widened, others snort uninterestedly, the little girl who spoke up first, just looks at him admiring eyes, smiling her sweet smile.

"Well the monster would go around at night searching for young blood, maybe just like YOURS!!!"

He leans forwards as he tells, totally living himself in the story, waving his hands as he tells, looking to the kids, as he yells the last word he turns pointing to a boy near him, the boy jumping up startled, looking wide-eyed at the counselor.

Counselor Bob nods with a almost insane look in his eyes staring at the kid

"He would find little unaware campers, and sink his teeth into their necks and drink their young blood, without a ..."

The kid next to the one he was pointing at gets up putting his arms to his sides, coughing slightly. Now having his back turned to this kid, Bob sighs slightly annoyed at the interruption, though taking it in himself, sucking up the anger within him. Slowly turning to the kid he smiles his fake and ooh so warm counselor caring smile.

"Yes little fella, what seems to be the problem."

The kid's look is serious, tilting his head with a frown on his face. Bob finding this little guy slightly amusing his smile becomes genuine. He had always found kids charming, and such cute little spite was just amusing to his mind.

"I met one of those"

Bob looks at the kid with a raised brow, letting a silence rest for a while, before smiling again.

"Now I think you mean you've heard about them."

Bob looks round to the other kids getting into his story moves and look again.

"Because they are not unknown, many fear the...."

The boy coughs again, more annoyedly this time, receiving a warm smile again, the slapped on fake smile from the counselor, gulping down his annoyance. The kid stomps his foot in the ground before going on.

"I did meet him, he was really hungry, but he was nice too, not as you say, he was just hungry, he bit me right here."

The boy stretches his neck, moving the shirt slightly away, showing off two dot like white scars on the right side of his lower neck."

Bob gets annoyed, not really looking at the neck, shrugging it off, not able to hold his anger back anymore.

"Now look here you little brat, I'm trying to tell a story, I don't know what your up to, but be nice now and sit d...."

One of the other girls get up, clearly annoyed.

"It is true, he came to me too, and when we got hungry we took the others."

Clearly pissed now, by this childish stupidity Bob shrugs off the girl moving his arms to his sides.

"Now both of you be nice and give me a chance here. Now let me finish this story or its back to the tents for all of you!!!!"

He looks sternly at the two little kids, realizing he might have gone over line there. He softens slowly, though not letting them go with his eyes. The spite in the little eyes keeps its flare. The two kids standing, facing the counselor, only the crack of a spark in the campfire, and the song of the forest night break the odd silence which followed.

"Counselor Bob?? Can I say something please?"

The sweet voice of the flirting blue eyed little girl calms him, sighing with a frown as he begins to turn to the little girl who was standing behind him. A smile comes back upon his face as he moves round.

"Well yes of course you can sweety."

"We don't like it when counselors get mad!!!"

The little girl screams at Bob in a mad fit, her voice getting different, a spine chilling coldness in the words. As he turns to face her, he notices her eyes glowing a crimson deep red, with only fragments of wavering blue in them. Too late he sees the branch in her hands, the thick wood swinging at his side, just above his lower ribs, not even leaving him time to move his hands in the way. The large branch hit him with an amazing thrust. In disbelief and surprise he gets thrown to his back, tripping over the logs by the campfire as a rib crunching crack is heard from his chest as it meets the swinging wood.

All the kids get up now, smiling and giggling, only the sweet little girl still growls angrily at him, swinging the huge branch in her little hand. Bob looks up, amazed the girl even able to lift the branch, let alone hit him with such strength. Thoughts racing in his head as he looks round to the other kids.

Surrounded by little red shining eyes. Their looks of those you could see if a hungry wolf pack closing in on its prey. He felt like such a prey, locked in, scared.

"What...why?"

The little girl now standing over him setting one foot at his chest, dropping the branch by his head. She shakes her head sadly, yet angrily as she looks down to him, pressing her foot against his crushed ribs. He squirms in pain eyes widening in disbelief.

"I was hoping we could spare you, why did you have to do that!!! Ted got angry to, Ted didn't believe either."

Seemingly thinking back, the once sweet little girl chuckles slightly. A chill going down Bob spine at the cold evilness of it.

"Well Ted did believe, just before he died, as you will, Bob my sweet naive counselor."

Some of the kids chuckle at her words. One of the girls walking up to Bob, looking at the girls standing over him. As she smiles she bares her long fangs, licking over them gently.

"You take him first Megan, you liked him best, though spare some for us, he does look quite yummy."

Both the girls giggle darkly, Bob looking at them, limp by the fear traveling through his body, only interrupted by the stinging pain of his crushed ribcage. He keeps still, panting as his eyes turn moist, tears rolling down his cheeks.

"I'm sorry, I ..this is not true.. you can't ..this is a joke right? Hahahaha funny, okay you scared me; it's over now."

His looks dart, far from convincingly, to all the kids. Stopping at Megan, shaking uncontrollably as he looks into her deep crimson eyes. Seeing in her eyes that of what he feared.

"Dear Bob it is too late now, you got us hungry, now we must feed."

Megan smiles her sweet smile again, though her eyes still shining their crimson glow, leaning over him. She trails her nails along his chest, and neck, smiling wider, barring her fangs. Bob shakes his head trying to move, feeling his body his held down by other kids, all standing round him now.

Megan grabs his head to hold it still, an evil insane grin over her lips as she looks to him.

"Oh yes do give me a struggle Bob, that makes it just so much better."

She presses her lips against his, kissing him hard, biting the bottom of his lips as she moves away. Her nails pressing in the skin of his throat as her fangs bite through the soft flesh of his lips. Megan closes her eyes in a slight moan, licking the blood on her fangs. Crimson trails flowing down along Bob's chin from the ripped up lip, screaming in pain, struggling. The kids all over him now, pinning him down to the ground.

Megan smiles sweet as she looks at him squirm in pain, pressing his head up to expose his neck more, trailing her fangs along his neck, closing her eyes as she feels his pulsating vein. With a sigh sinks her fangs in his neck. He tenses in the agonizing pain as he feels her fangs penetrate his skin, shivering as they sink deeper in his flesh.

As she starts drinking from him, hungrily, the pain fades, his mind getting blurry. He just wants to get away. The fading pain turning to a slight pleasure, calm pleasure. Closing his eyes as his mind swirl, unable to focus, he moans weakly. Megan smiles a bit, pressing him harder against her fangs, trailing her claws through his hair.

As she releases him from her embrace, the first drink is over. The bloodfest starts. The other kids hungrily bite into him, not bothering to turn his pain into pleasure as Megan. Finding every available vein in his body, ripping his clothes off him to get to his soft skin. Crimson staining the soft green grass.

Bob lies still overwhelmed in pain, tensing, not able to make a sound as the intensity never ease. The flicker of the sweety blue eyes look down at him in the crimson hue, a slight pitying look over her eyes as leaning over whispering in his ear.

"I did like you Bob."

His eyes focus on her for a second as she grabs both sides of his head by her hands, sighing sadly as she keeps her eyes on his.

"Now rest in peace."

Ending her words, before letting Bob react she tenses her arms snapping them violently to the side. The others still feeding from his draining body as the dull snap of the neck turns the forest silent. In the darkness of the wood, only lit up by a flickering campfire, so many fates have been sealed.
