The Swarm
This is not a long article. It's more like a small bulletin just to say that I've decided that this site is going to get more updates, more often.
There was a point in time when I overextended my supply curve, pumping out stuff that no one read. I cut back down to meet demand nicely. I udpated almost religiously every two weeks, and I'd calmly spam it out to anyone who'd read it... with dignity, of course, as I'm sure you'll all agree.
Then a month passed with no changes, no updates, and no one said anything. Jiang's forum declined simultaneously. I decided that there was no way that I could raise demand as I had tried so many times with the old Angelfire and Geocities sites, by spamming it incessantly and trying to add cutesy-dutesy stuff. That stuff only prolonged the painful lifetimes of the sites, keeping them afloat for a few pathetic months past their deaths. Instead, this time, I resolved simply to keep going, even if no one noticed. And so it seemed that no one noticed after I added an item to my folder after the month's hiatus. I think I put in two, actually, though it found little response there. Stop reading if this sounds familiar.
Something dawned upon me a bit later: that people do read my site. Whether for fear that I will spam them or for respect for me or, in an ideal case, for their (your) own entertainment, sometimes people check my site without my explicitly asking them to look at the latest updates. This, I write (a new trend) - This is good news.
So am I being disgusting, whore-like? Am I deliberately lowering writing quality for quantitty? Am I desperate for attention? The answer to all three of these questions, if you know me at all, is yes. I've never considered this site spectacular, but it has always been imperative that I take some sort of initiative, what with the absence of feedback on my site forum (which is inclusive >_>). So now the strategy is, once again, to shift supply way out: further than demand can possibly follow... so that there will always be ample anecdotes and slightly unoriginal words at your disposal.
This is the new plan. Write as much as humanly possible within the realm, of course, of my crippling attention deficits and defects. Notice everything, criticize anything, hell lie and make up stuff if I need to in order to get source material, because when I have nothing better to do on the internet, I'm gonna be typing. What effect will this have? You tell me. Let me know on AIM, on the site forum, or via e-mail what you think of each "article". Tell me how often you check, how often you read, how little you care. Because a satisfied customer is the beginning to a lame slogan used by advertisers.
What can you expect? I'm thinking such filler as "social life", "Chinese food", "sleeping bags", and other assorted pointless topics in teh next month. Hopefully I'll get around to typing 'em. Stay tuned.
