Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. His parents, David Poe Jr. and Elizabeth Arnold Hopkins, were touring actors and they both died before Edgar was 3.

Edgar and his brother and sister were all slpit up after their mother died in 1811. His brother, William, died young and his sister, Rosalie, became insane and too later died.

Edgar went to a wealthy merchant in Richmond, Virginia. His name was John Allan. John Allan took Edgar in like a logn lost son, he even had Edgar baptized. Edgar took John Allan's last name and used it as his middle name eve though John Allan wasn't legally Edgar's father. Later Edgar moved to England where he went to school for 5 years. In 1820 Edgar moved back to the USA.

Edgar then attended the Universary of Virginia. He later got kicked out because of his extensive gambling debts. He asked John Allan to pay them for him , but he refused to pay them for Edgar. Edgar then disowned him for not paying the debts.

Edgar then moved to his father's sister's house in Baltimore. His aunt's name was Mrs. Maria Clemm. While he was there he wrote MS Found in a Bottle he got $50 for writing it. He then married his aunt's daughter (his cousin) Virginia Clemm. She later busted a blood vessel and became a virtual invalid. Five years later she died.

After his wifes death he bagan to do drugs and get drunk. On his way to visit his new fiancée he got drunk and was found in a delirious condition and later died on October 7, 1849.
