IRC Services:

This is probably going to be my favorite project within the next year. This will

also the most challenging project ive ever worked on. I have worked on IRC

services before, but its a big difference when you start from the very bottom

instead of working off of what someone else had already done.

Overview:

The first release of these Services will be Channel Services only. Later on Oper

Services will be added and anything else necessary. It will be built as a WIN32

Application with a nice IDE. Initially it will be for IRCu only. Perhaps later it

will be available for IRCd. However most IRCd users probably wont like the

style of these services anyways(its far from ChanServ). If you want a general

idea of what it will be like go on Irc.Chat-Net.Org and take a look at CX. CX

was the bot ive worked on for about a year with a friend I met on IRC.

Abilities:

The first release of these services probably wont have all the features that final

versions will have. Expect to see the final versions using a remote database

(probably SQL). This will allow a network to keep a central database. This is

helpful when your dedicated Server(whatever hosts your services) goes down,

or loses its connection. To remedy the problem another trusted admin/oper can

run their copy of the Services and it will use the up to date database. Using

SQL also gives you more power with your web development too. There will

most likely be a number of admin features that can be used by whoever is

running the services locally.

Conclusion:

These Services will most likely be sold rather than just given. However I dont

foresee prices being anywhere above $60. There will probably be constant

upgrades given in case of technology growth, or any other issues. There will

most likely be a free demo initally that will expire within 30 days or something

like tha, just so that everyone can get a good test drive. There will most likely

be some sort of network authentication that must be done in order for the

services to run. This will keep illegal copies from being used. Each network will

receive a login/pass, or ID and only one login may accur at a time.

Release:

This project will begin within 6-8 months and you can expect to wait about a

year after that before any releases are made. Questions and Comments can be

made by sending an email to David Dill.
