Chapter 1:
New England Lighthouses
A New England icon, lighthouses dot the craggy Atlantic coast from Rhode Island to Maine. Once vital to fishermen and sailors, they remain deeply embedded in New England's landscape.
Although there is no "Pacfic Coast Highway" similar to California's HWY 1, many of New England's sites are accessible by coastal roads and Rte 1, which skirts much of Massachusetts, north toward Maine.
