Final Rankings
Well, folks - it's all over! The season has ended and the Frinklevania Mahiis are MDFFL Super Bowl Champions!! Although the Stallions never relinquished the top spot in our Power Poll, and they were the most consistent and dominant team this year, the final game proved that at any time and at any moment, the underdawg can pull the upset.
The Mahiis have been the hottest team of late, storming through the end of the season and capturing the Dixon Division. This championship, the first ever MDFFL Title for the Mahiis, will go down as one of the most dramatic and heartwrenching games in history.
The score was tied after regulation, 117-117, and it was the most improbable player to come through for the Mahiis - bencher Tommy Maddox! The game seemed to be a Mahiis blowout, with Edgerrin James scoring 8 points in the first half of Sunday Night's Broncos-Colts game. But a dismal performance after the halftime break left the Mahiis wondering if they could pull it off. And the preliminary scores had the Stallions winning 117-116. But another improbable play, the New Orleans Aaron Brooks to Dante Stallworth to Michael Lewis to Duece McAllister to Jerome Pathon 79-yard touchdown pass - saved the Mahiis and sent the championship game to extra time, allowing Maddox to pull off the victory and give the Mahiis a Champagne Shower!
What a game - what a win - this is what dreams are made of! What a way to end the 2003 MDFFL Season.
The consolation game saw Dave's Dolphins put a hurtin' on the Cancun Diablos to claim third place and leave the Diablos out of a share of the winnings.
As for the rest of the league - who cares! They were sitting on their duffs watching others play for the big money! What fun is that!?!?
