Discription:
Like most Cichlids, this fish is highly territorial and requires lots of space and hiding places. This fish will stay to the lower parts of the tank, browsing through the caves and other crevices. Although this fish is quite hardy, I do not recommend it as a beginners fish do to its size and agressive nature.
Requirments:
A Tank of no less than 30 gallons is recommended.
Diet:
The Ice Blue Cichlid is an omnivore and will eat both dry and live foods.
Sexing
The egg spot method may be used to sex these fish. The male will tend to have brighter colors and more noticable egg spots than the female.
Breeding:
The Ice Blue Cichlid is relatively easy to breed and is a mouthbrooder. After laying the eggs, the mother scoops them up in her mouth and holds them until they've hatched and developed some, before releasing them.
