Human lives have been cheated away,
Their beating hearts have been shortened today.
Our days filled with darkness of pleasures lost,
Destroyed are the treasures that now have been tossed.
Billowing clouds, charred embers, falling steel,
What more pain is there left to feel?
Numb are their souls, forever they'll heal,
This will NOT be our final meal!
For a moment to our knees we fell,
But think not that there we'll dwell!
You've hurt us badly it's true,
But fear ye now the red, white and blue!
What you did to us was horribly wrong,
Listen now to the words in our songs,
We're Americans, we're proud and strong,
Your days now gloomy and your nights are long.
Through our darkness, there comes daylight,
Our future will forever shine bright.
You, my friends, are the real sinners,
