every since the re-establishment of the death penalty in 1976 there have been over 850 executions, these 850 citizens have been deprived of there basic right to live garanteed in the constitution. Almost all of these people have been poor, and can't afford there orw attorney, and a HUGE portion of them have been black and hispanic men and women. Minorites make up a majority of those on death row, and over 80% of them are there for killing a white person. If your a black person and you kills a white person you are 14 times more likely to be killed then a white person who kills a black person. capital punishment is not a deturant to cri9me, in fact 11 out of 12 states with out capital punishment have a lower murder rate then the national average. this is a much better record then the 18 our of 38 who have executions and have a lower crime rate.
