EN NAHDA (Islamic Tend Movement) (Tunus)
After the beginning of the transition to democracy in Tunisia, several religious associations were established. In 1970 a religious association called “EL HIDAYA” was established by Reşit GANUSHI and Abdelfettah MORO, in which also professors and students participated. EEN NAHDA asserts that an Islamic transformation society can not occur by means of arms but through the cultural and socio-political fight of the intellectuals. They claim that the economic, spiritual and intellectual problems of the community can only be solved by the implementation of religious laws. Along with the transition to political plurality in Tunisia the Islamists have formed two movements within the El Nahda organization. One movement is led by Reşit GANNUSHI and operates mostly in Tunisia. SALAH KARKAR and HABIB MOGNI lead the other movement. This movement is based on racism and operates mainly abroad, especially in France. The refusal to approve El Nahda, which appeared to be the political organ of the Islamist movement, as a legal political party radicalized the group’s political tendencies and created social tensions
