Rules
The Canadian Industries Hockey League or CIFH will be a league composed of 10 teams, which will play an 18 game season. This may appear to be a short season, but it ensures more time and effort are put into each game, and it means that each regular season game has more of a purpose. The playoffs will consist of Semi-finals and finals, each being 5-game series. The simming will take place traditionally on Wednesday or Sunday, however may change occasionally to fit the needs of the league president.

Each team will have a roster of a maximum of 10 players, and a minimum of 6. There will be two positions, a goalie and a "player." This is again moving away from traditional leagues, but will ensure that each player on the team is more important. There will be 5 starting players and 1 starting goalie for each game. The players will be taken with the best rating for each game, but if the general manager wants someone else in he can feel free to indicate it.
Each player will have an "OV" rating of 1 to 10. The higher the better. Each starting player will contribute to the teams’ overall rating and their chance of winning the hockey game. Upsets can and will happen, although if your team has a higher rating then the other team your chances of winning are much better. These ratings will also improve or get worse depending on the performance in the previous season.
Each player will have an age, the draftees in each draft will be 22 years old. At the age of 30 the players may begin to retire, although it will be a random type decision. Once your player is 30 he may or may not retire.
Trades are obviously allowed and urged between teams. They can be any numbers of players as long as payroll isn’t exceeded, or roster limits aren’t violated. Draft picks can be traded.
Each player will be under contract for one or more years, and will be paid a salary. Once the contract runs out if they are under 30 the team that he played for will have 1 week to offer a contract to him. If he accepts he stays on the team, if he rejects it or isn’t offered he becomes unrestricted. Once a player is over 30 he becomes automatically unrestricted. Contracts cannot be offered during the season.
So in short the offseason will consist of 1 week of the draft, 1 week of under-30 signings and a few weeks of unrestricted free agents signings.
Each team will also have a player budget, which will be the amount of "money" they are allowed to have on their payroll. Each team will receive 60 points which based on league changes can change from year to year. If a team makes a trade to go over this, or signs someone to go over this, it won’t go through.
The draft, which will be held yearly, will be one round, where each team gets a pick starting with the worse team. Draft picks can be traded, and after the draft the team will have until the unrestricted period to sign their draftee. If they fail to sign them he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
OFF SEASON TASKSGM’s can be kicked out of the league if they are inactive. Basically we ask that you keep tabs on your team and try to make a few deals. If at one time the GM is thought to be inactive he will be given a warning first, and if he still remains inactive he will be booted. The level of commitment isn’t high in this league but still requires some. Vacations are understood and if the league president is told about them, that’s fine.
Hopefully you still want to sign up. Please email your top 3 teams, your name, email and your province (or country if you aren’t Canadian) to toddy_the_hottie@hotmail.com
