Marine Walkthrough: A Long Detour

The platform descends to the surface, with Harrison on it. The mysterious voice is now revealed..

Comm (Tomiko): Hey, Harrison. Slow down. I've got a plan.
Harrison: Who the hell are you?
Comm (Tomiko): Oh crap.
Harrison: You're a girl?
Comm (Tomiko): Shitty software.
Harrison: Well, hello there.
Comm (Tomiko): Don't even start with me.

Harrison: What the hell is the Hive?
Comm (Tomiko): Exactly what is sounds like.
Harrison: Is that where my team's headed?
Comm (Tomiko): Looks that way. But why?
Harrison: Just get me into the tunnels. I have to warn them.
Comm (Tomiko): The tunnels are sealed. There's no way in from here.
Harrison: All right. Then get me back to the POC. White Team is there. I bet eight heavily armed Marines and a dropship can find a way inside.
Harrison: Okay... So why here? Seems like a funny place for an Assemblyman's daughter to take a summer internship.
Comm (Tomiko): My brother... He died while he was stationed here. Accidental death, according to the report. Eisenberg signed it himself.
Harrison: I'm sorry.
Comm (Tomiko): My brother was a very meticulous man. He didn't make mistakes.
Harrison: Everybody makes mistakes.
Comm (Tomiko): Maybe so, but he was murdered. I have proof.
Harrison: Is that what I'm carrying?
Comm (Tomiko): Among other things. Kenji's research centered on genetic modification: human genetics. They used convicts mainly. Pretty sick stuff. It's this place. It brings out the worst in you. I should have stopped him from ever coming here.
Harrison: Sometimes you can't hold on tight enough.
Comm (Tomiko): You okay?
Harrison: Huh? Oh, just remembering something.

Okay Harrison, I've got you as close as I can. The POC is locked up tight as a drum. Assuming your White Team's still here, you've got two choices. Stand in the courtyard and shout until they hear you, or head down into the outflow system. That should get you past the primary security net and into the Southern Landing. Or get you killed. 'Course, I can say the same for staying here.

* Rendezvous with White Team in Landing Bay 3.


The ammo box to the left has some Smartgun ammo and an Image Intensifier. Head forward and the grate in the floor will break open, releasing a few Aliens. Kill them, then go down the ladder. At the bottom, open the door using the panel. The ammo box here as Pulse Rifle and Smartgun ammo. Go down the hallway to the right.

Comm (Tomiko): The signal's breaking up a bit.
Comm (Tomiko): I'm losing you.


Continue along and watch for Aliens. Remember, the Shotgun is a very good weapon for killing Aliens quickly. At the end of this hall there is some health and Smartgun ammo. Continue until you drop into a new room. Go up the smaller ladder to the left and head through the hall. Here, if you go left where the corridor splits, then go left again, you can find some armor and an ammo box with pretty much every type of ammo. Otherwise, go right here. Go all the way down the hall and you'll reach a door. Use your Welding Torch to burn off the four locks and open the door. Kill any Aliens in the next room and go up the ladder for Smartgun and Pistol ammo. Head back down the ladder, go right, and use the panel to open the door. Go down the hall and open the door. The next room is filled with Alien Eggs. I recommend approaching each egg and shooting the ones that open with your Shotgun. Not all of them will open. When that is done, go up the ladder.

Comm (Tomiko): Harrison, looks like you're going to have to reset the power relay to get that door open. It should be directly under your position. Look for a stairwell.

Kill any Aliens here, and there is also an ammo box with Pulse Rifle ammo and napalm. Head to the right and you'll see a sloping ramp. It's dark in there and there are quite a few Aliens, so have your Shotgun ready and your Image Intensifier or Shoulder Lamp, whichever you prefer. Head through the dark corridors, shooting any Aliens you find, until you reach the end.

Comm (Tomiko): There is it. Get the power online and get out of there.

Open the panel and pull the switch to turn on the power, making it much easier to see in here. Backtrack through all the hallways and back to the large room. Straight across from you, at the door with health near it, you can open. Go through it to complete this part of the level.

Half way there. Listen, Harrison. Something's up at the Southern Landing. White Team just went dead - the Verloc called asking our people if we'd taken down the communication link. We haven't, but they're still not answering. I'd hurry if I were you.

Head through the halls. There is health and an ammo box with Pulse Rifle bullets on the way. Open the door at the end to enter a large room.

Comm (Tomiko): Harrison. There's a hall off the second floor that should take you to a security station. Get there and you can get the sentry guns back online. That should make things a little easier.

You get a new objective as well.

* Locate the security station and activate automatic defenses.

Walk down to level two and open the only door here that isn't locked. In here, use the Welding Torch to burn off the lock on the grated door and enter the fenced off area. Open the panel here and pull the switch. Then leave the fenced area and go to the left, then all the way to the right corner. Here the gound is slightly higher, and you'll see an area with yellow beams opposite you. From this area, jump over onto the grated area near the yellow beams. Walk across, then jump over to the set of boxes. Use them to reach the top of this room. Open the nearby lockers to find armor and a laptop.

July 12, 2230

Schaefer is all hands and no brains. I don't know why I followed him here. 'Course, no one mentioned the one-way transfer policy. I've got a better chance of meeting Prince Charming inside the Hive than I do getting paperwork signed to get me outta here.


Go to the right here where you will find an ammo box containing Shotgun shells. Pull the switch here to activate the crane. The crane on the other side of this room will start moving crates, revealing a door. Unfortunately, it also releases some Aliens. Kill them, then wait for the crane to finish moving boxes before you go through the revealed door. Go through this hall, watch out for Aliens, until you reach the door at the end. It is locked.

Comm (Tomiko): I think I can override that door for you. Just give me a few seconds.
Comm (Tomiko): What the hell was THAT?
Comm (Tomiko): Almost there.


Turn around. While Tomiko works on opening the door, a few Runner Aliens will come at you from behind. Kill them and wait for Tomiko to open the door. When it opens, go through it. Inside there is an ammo box with Shotgun ammo and napalm, then pull the switch to activate the sentry guns. On the stairs, there is also a laptop.

Date: October 8, 2230

Dear Rick,
My friend at WY saw your name come through the auditor list. I wanted to tell her - yeah, Rick's okay - except you're not. The creditors are still calling, so don't say you're looking to clean up. If I never see your sorry ass again, it's too soon.


Backtrack through the hallways back to the room with the crane. You will have to jump up onto the yellow bars again and up to the higher lever to exit this room.

Comm (Tomiko): Harrison...
Comm (Tomiko): All the way downstairs.


Back in this large room, go all the way down the stairs to the bottom level. Go through the opened door here.

Comm (Tomiko): To your left.
Comm (Tomiko): Harrison, hurry!


Try to use the panel on the door to your left and it will break open. Use your hacking device to force the door open. Open the second door as you continue along and watch for Runners. Go to the end of the hall.

Comm (Tomiko): Harrison!
Comm (Tomiko): I can't override the door. Look for another way out of there!
Comm (Tomiko): Hurry!


Use the Welding Torch to burn off the lock on the nearby grate. Although it looks too small for you to fit in, if you crouch you can go through this vent. Do so to complete the level.
